Valve and ESL have announced six new regional CS:GO leagues that will be part of a new qualifying system for the 'one and only' Major in 2020. Valve want's to make sure that the Rio Major features the top teams in the world, and they have decided that the current Legends and Challengers, even though they were already qualified, have to participate and prove them selfs as a top contender. Qualification for the Major will consist of several competitions that will grant points into Regional Major Rankings (RMR). The teams with the most amount of points will qualify to the major as Legends, Challengers, and Contenders.
