IEM Katowice 2020 will mark the 10year anniversary of the event and the first event of the 2020/2021 ESL Pro Tour. The ESL Pro Tour combines ESL and Dreamhack into a 6-international tournament circuit that will replace the World Championship Series for Starcraft II esports. This new ecosystem will feature 2 ESL and 4 Dreamhack events played per year, including weekly competitions which will work alongside them. Every competition will be aligned within tier levels: ESL Open Cups, Masters Qualifiers and Masters. Qualifying through these will lead players to the Masters Championship at the end of each winter.
The first season will look to reward a total of $1.8 million across the tour and crown the official Starcraft II World Champion at IEM Katowice in 2021.
The winner of IEM Katowice 2020 will receive $150,000 USD and a spot at the Global Finals in Katowice next year.
