The VCT Americas Ascension 2024 reached its dramatic conclusion last night, with Brazilian team 2Game Esports claiming victory in a thrilling five-map Grand Final against M80.

This win not only secures the Ascension trophy but also promotes 2Game Esports to the prestigious VCT Americas League for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

The Journey to Victory

The Ascension tournament saw six competitive teams battling for the coveted spot in the Americas League. M80 dominated the group stage, going a flawless 5-0 and finishing at the top of the table.

However, their perfect run hit a snag in the playoffs when they lost their opening match to 2Game Esports. Undeterred, M80 mounted an incredible lower-bracket run, setting the stage for a rematch with 2Game in the Grand Finals. After finishing second in Ascension 2023, M80 was determined to take their spot in the big leagues.

In contrast, 2Game Esports barely scraped through the group stage, finishing with a 2-3 record and narrowly edging out RETA Esports on round difference to qualify for the playoffs.

But once in the playoffs, 2Game found their form, defeating M80 and All Knights to secure their spot in the grand finals. When the two teams met again for the ultimate prize, it was 2Game's turn to shine. Thanks to standout performances from Brenno "zap" Roberto, Luiz "lz" Reche, and Rodrigo "spike" Lombardi, 2Game triumphed over M80 with a 3-2 victory.

A Cinderella Story

2Game Esports entered the VALORANT scene in 2024, assembling a roster of players from various tier-two teams in Brazil. Despite their humble beginnings, the squad finished third in both Brazil Challengers 2024 Split 1 and 2, earning them a spot in the Ascension tournament.

For an organization that only started its VALORANT journey this year, this victory marks a true Cinderella story. As 2Game ascends to the VCT Americas League, this squad of rookies will have their first chance to compete on the international stage, where they hope to make a lasting impact on Tier 1 VALORANT.

For M80, it is another year of disappointment. The North American side have once again failed to secure their place in the top tiers in the Americas. Now with rumors surrounding M80 about them leaving the Valorant scene, the future looks grim for the roster and the organization.
