Apeks triumph in VCT Ascension EMEA 2024
With the conclusion of the first Ascension tournament of 2024, Apeks emerged victorious, securing their spot in the VCT EMEA League for the 2025 season.
Their journey through the competition culminated in a thrilling five-map Grand Final against PCIFIC Esports, marking a historic moment for the organization. This win not only grants Apeks the prestigious Ascension trophy but also solidifies their status as a VCT partner team for the next two years.
Path to Victory
Apeks' journey through VCT Ascension EMEA 2024 was marked by resilience and determination. After finishing at the top of their group with only a single loss, they entered the playoffs with high hopes. The memory of their defeat by Gentle Mates in the previous year's Ascension was fresh, where they were swept 3-0 and denied a spot in the EMEA League.
This year, Apeks came prepared. They decisively won 2-0 against The Ultimates and CGN Esports in the playoffs. Thus, setting up an intense Grand Final clash against PCIFIC Esports. The final was a grueling five-map series that tested the resolve of both teams. In the end, Apeks secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory, claiming the Ascension trophy. And along with it, a place in the VCT EMEA League for 2025.
The Redemption Arc
Apeks’ victory in Ascension EMEA 2024 was a year in the making, with the team finally achieving their goal after last year’s disappointment. For the org, their gamble to cut expenses in other sectors and focus solely on Valorant has paid off massively.
Dom "soulcas" Sulcas, once a champion of EMEA with Team Liquid, will return to the big stage to face his former friends and foes alike. Albeit as a Two-Way Affiliate player.
For Auni "AvovA" Chahade, and Michał "MOLSI" Łącki, the win was particularly sweet. As they return to the top tier of Valorant after challenging seasons with Team Heretics and Team Vitality respectively, in 2023.
Following their triumph, AvovA shared his emotions after the final:
"Thank God! I'm happy. I've been grinding my ass off. Everyone on this team has been grinding their ass off. [MOLSI, soulcas, and I] have been in VCT last year, but we didn't have the best season. And being able to come back with these amazing people, I'm just so happy!"
As Apeks prepares for the 2025 VCT EMEA season, the team will look to carry this momentum and make a strong impact in the league as well as in the international tournaments.
