Aspas Sets New VCT Kill Record in Match Against KRU
Erick “aspas” Santos, star player for MIBR and the Americas region, has once again etched his name in VALORANT history. In a high-stakes Lower Bracket Semifinals clash against KRÜ Esports, aspas delivered a jaw-dropping performance, breaking the record for most kills in a Best-of-3 series with an astonishing 82 kills.
The match between MIBR and KRU went the distance, spanning all three maps. KRU started strong by securing a win on Bind, but MIBR staged a thrilling reverse sweep. Aspas played a pivotal role in turning the tide, racking up 24 kills on Bind, followed by a dominant 29 kills on both Abyss and Split. His impact on the server was undeniable, carrying his team to victory with an individual performance that was simply on another level.
Shattering His Own Record
Interestingly, aspas was already one of the joint record holders for the most kills in a Bo3. Previously, he shared the title with Yuma "Dep" Hashimoto from ZETA DIVISION, with both players recording 78 kills in a series. However, with this latest feat, aspas has surpassed his own benchmark and now stands alone at the top.
Aspas’ record-breaking night doesn’t mean he’s done making history. With yet another achievement under his belt, the world’s best player could now set his sights on the kill record in a Best-of-5 series.
That accolade currently belongs none other to Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang from EDward Gaming, who set the bar at 111 kills at the biggest stage of the year, VALORANT Champions 2024. Prior to that, the record was held by Gen.G's Kim "t3xture" Na-ra at 105, and before that, it was aspas himself who yet again shared the record, this time with G2's Jacob "valyn" Batio at 101.
Aspas continues to redefine individual excellence in VALORANT, and his latest record only solidifies his status as the game’s most dominant duelist. With MIBR still in contention, fans will be eagerly watching to see if he can break yet another record while carrying his team into Bangkok.
