The Danish esports organisation, Astralis has been making major changes going into the second season of Counter-Strike esports. Earlier this week, the org let go of the Sports Director Kasper Hvidt and Head Analyst Nicolai “HUNDEN” Peterson. The CS:GO team also let go of two old members of the roster, making space for new faces. Today, Astralis Twitter announced the addition of the new Sport Director, Kasper Straube Hansen. Straube will join starting 1st October. He previously worked with Heroic as the performance manager.

The changes happen around the conclusion of ESL’s investigation of Astralis. Last night, The Commissioner's office of Louvre Agreement posted their result on Twitter with the ruling on the conflict of interest back in July 2021. This is regarding Astralis using HUNDEN whilst he was under Heroic contract. With Heroic attending the same event as them created a conflict of interest.

In January 2023, ESL and the Commissioner's office of Louvre Agreement was made aware of the possible conflict of interest surrounding HUNDEN, Astralis and Heroic. The office commissioned a private investigation in compliance with EPL’s Executive Board.

The investigation report is as follows:

It found that Astralis asked for and received services from a future employee between April and July 2021, which created a Conflict of Interest as that party held a position of authority within a competitor team. It did not report this to league authorities and the competing team itself. This was found to be a breach of the regulations of the Louvre Agreement. Other claims were investigated in this process, however no other breaches were identified.

As a result the EPL’s board has decided to fine Astralis $100,000 for “maintaining and not reporting an existing conflict of interest

Anders Horsholt, the CEO also made a statement regarding the same.

To say, HUNDEN and Hvidt’s termination was a result of the ruling won’t be fair. But since Astralis has parted with the individuals who’d be the most involved. Astralis’s new sports director will start on 1st October and hopefully the organisation will have better days. You can read ESL and the Commissioner of Louvre Agreement’s report here.
