Attacking Soul Esports and EDward Gaming qualify for VCT Masters Tokyo 2023
At Valorant Champions, We saw a Chinese team's debut and how strong they are. After the international debut, the Chinese Government approved the Valorant's official release. And we saw the Chinese team's return to the international stage with VCT LOCK//IN. While the teams did not make a strong impact, they displayed some signs of brilliance. At the same event, Riot announced additional two teams from China attending VCT Masters Tokyo. The two invited teams are Attacking Soul Esports and EDward Gaming.
For the qualification, FGC organized an invitational tournament. A total of top twelve Chinese Valorant teams were invited to the competition. The tournament was split into two stages viz. Group stage and Playoffs. Two groups of six played a round-robin tournament in the group stage. Three teams from each group qualified for the playoffs. The fourth seeded team from each group directly qualifies for FGC Invitational ‘23 Act 2.
The six teams qualified for playoffs were:
- Attacking Soul Esports
- EDward Gaming
- FunPlus Phoenix
- Dragon Ranger Gaming
- Kone eSports club
- Totoro Gaming.
The playoffs followed a double-elimination bracket. EDward Gaming and Attacking Soul Esports, the top seeds from each group made it to the Grand Finals. While EDward Gaming qualified through the upper bracket while Attacking Soul lost their opening games and qualified through the lower bracket. In the finals, Attacking Soul defeated EDward Gaming. On 26th Valorant Esports China announced Attacking Soul and EDward gaming will be the two teams representing China at VCT Masters Tokyo.
