Berserker reportedly leaving Cloud9
Star AD carry Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol appears set to leave Cloud9 in search of greener pastures ahead of next year, according to a report by Sheep Esports' Brieuc "LEC Wooloo" Seeger.
Despite having a year left on his contract with Cloud9, Berserker's decision may point to his dissatisfaction with the team.
After a crushing end to the year, Cloud9 appear to be falling apart with Berserker looking to exit the team less than a week after the news broke on Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun getting fired by Cloud9 for being constantly late.
A rough year for an exciting project
After bringing in Jojopyun at the height of his career, Cloud9 promised an strong showing in 2024. With Jojo and the added inclusion of one of the most seasoned, and highly regarded, support players in the league in Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme, the team rocked a star-studded roster to begin the season.
Despite the team's undeniable individual strengths, however, Cloud9 ended the year in the most disappointing fashion imaginable. Eager to go up against the very best teams at Worlds, Berserker and Cloud9's dreams all burned to ash when 100 Thieves shocked North America by defeating the team in the LCS Championship. Despite their youth and inexperience, 100 Thieves played some fantastic League of Legends to deny Cloud9 a ticket to Worlds and end their season prematurely.
Berserker looks to move on
The loss to 100 Thieves must no doubt have been crushing for the team. As for Berserker, more specifically, it may just have been the tipping point.
Admittedly, though, it is possible that Berserker's discontent may have begun with his former support Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen exiting Cloud9 at the end of last year. Berserker and Zven formed a formidable partnership on and off the rift, with the duo making no effort to hide their growing friendship and eagerness to stick together.
With Zven at his side, Berserker played some of his very best League of Legends, earning him the LCS MVP award in the Spring of 2023.
After Cloud9's roster overhaul and subsequent disappointing run in 2024, Berserker is ready to move on. While it remains unclear where Berserker might land next, the AD carry will surely be looking to return to previous heights.
