BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 Preview: The Qualified Teams
After a week of thrilling Dota 2 action, five teams secured tickets for the second iteration of BetBoom Dacha hosted by Fissure. BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 has a strong resume for its preview. It is the first LAN event of 2024, featuring a million-dollar prize pool. In February, the five qualified teams will join the invited teams in Dubai to duke it out for their share of the prize.
The tournament is the successor to last year’s BetBoom Dacha which saw Gaimin Gladiators crowned as the champions. They took home $150,000 USD in prize winnings. Thus, the team was one of the direct invites for this year.
Nevertheless, last year’s champions will have to work hard to win this year. Multiple strong teams are participating in the tournament, and Team Spirit is one of them. Gaimin Gladiators don’t have a nice record against this particular team.
The teams qualified via the qualifiers also have the potential to make it to the grand finals. Here's a quick preview of the five teams that qualified for the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, to understand their journey to the tournament and what they represent for their region.
Nouns - North and South America
In recent years, the North American region has struggled to perform well in the Dota 2 professional scene. However, with Nouns leading the way, things may be looking up. The team used to have upcoming players who even secured a 7th-place finish at The International 2023.
The organisation took a step further in 2024 by undergoing a roster shuffle. They combined these players with seasonal veterans from the region to revive North America’s Dota 2 professional scene. During the qualifiers, they beat Shopify Rebellion, a team that has been reigning North America in recent years.
Nouns have every potential to be the next North America’s super team. With an accomplished captain like Tal "Fly" Aizik leading them, it could only be a matter of time before they make a name for themselves.
OG- Western Europe
The Western European qualifier had several formidable teams. Thus, there was no room to make a mistake in this region. Despite having several high-profile teams, Tundra Esports were the favourites for the region as their roster consists of several high-profile players, including a player who has won TI twice. However, Tundra floundered after the dust had settled, and OG emerged victorious. OG also has a noteworthy player who is also a two-time champion like Tundra Esports. Additionally, those two players used to be on the same team, OG, back in the day.
Unlike Tundra, OG only swapped two players for the roster shuffle, whereas Tundra had to rebuild their entire roster around their midlaner. In the end, OG’s roster shuffle yielded more success. The two teams first met in their opening upper bracket series, where OG took a swift victory, knocking Tundra down to the lower bracket.
After getting to the grand finals through the lower bracket, Tundra Esports got wiped out again. Furthermore, OG made a statement in their qualifiers run by not dropping a single match in their series, which is impressive. OG has long been nicknamed Phoenix because of their ability to return in better form, and they’re proving they live up to their nickname.
Virtus Pro - Eastern Europe
Eastern Europe had a few strong teams participating in the qualifiers. Amongst them, two teams were the favorites to qualify for the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. These two teams met twice during the qualifiers. Virtus Pro emerged as the victor both times. Virtus Pro’s roster consists of several promising players led by the region’s veteran, Artsiom "Fng" Barshak.
Team Falcons- MENA
MENA is a newly formed region. It is close to Western Europe; thus, many European players migrated to this new region. Henceforth, the competition there is as fierce as the ones from Western Europe.
Several teams tried to challenge for the reign in this newly formed region. However, a newly formed team, Team Falcons, consisting of many notable players is taking charge of shaping the region.
The team faced a few obstacles on their journey, but they overcame them. They had a challenging grand finals match against their resilient regional rivals, PSG Quest, which ended up being a long and exhausting series. Ultimately, Team Falcon emerged victorious and secured their BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 ticket. Falcon’s roster includes TI champions, veterans and an upcoming rookie. Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, a promising offlaner leds the team.
Azure Ray - China and South East Asia
Azure Ray has one of the most unique journeys coming to the tournament. The team was the Champion of ESL One Kuala Lumpur. However, shortly after that, three players from their roster left the team and joined Xtreme Gaming. Thus, the team had to undergo a roster shuffle. They brought out retired legendary players from the Chinese region to rebuild the team.
The actions yielded tremendous success as the team tore down everyone in the closed qualifiers. Only Geek Fam gave a fair challenge for them. However, Azure Ray went the distance and defeated Geek Fam to secure their seat for the tournament.
BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 will start on 4th February. The group stage will be from the 4th to the 8th of February, and the main stage will be from February 11th to February 16th. It is going to be an interesting tournament because even the qualified teams are strong and have a chance to become BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 champions.
