Boxi, miCKe, and Insania are the most experienced Dota 2 trio
There are a lot of records being made at The International 12 (TI12) and the latest one featured three members of Team Liquid, as the team now includes the most experienced Dota 2 trio.
Michael "miCKe" Vu, Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, and Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi have 1119 games together over six years, an incredible achievement for them.
Boxi, miCKe, and Insania started their Dota 2 trio with Alliance
Back in October 2017, Alliance signed the trio for their roster. At the time they weren't well known in the pro scene and it looked like Alliance was playing it safe by signing up a few rising stars.
The Dota 2 trio proved their worth over time, eventually attending The International in 2019. The team had a good chance to make it far that year but an unfortunate misclick cost them their lower bracket match.
After TI9, the Dota 2 trio found a new home with Team Liquid and they have been a formidable force ever since. Last year Team Liquid placed third at TI 10 and this year they took silver at all three Majors and Riyadh Masters 2023.
Team Liquid will beat Nigma Galaxy's record at TI12
It's important to note that at the moment, the trio at Team Liquid is tied with another threesome at Nigma Galaxy.
Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov, Maroun "GH" Merhej, and Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi also have 1119 games under their belt.
However, the Team Liquid Trio will overtake them in TI12, since they are guaranteed at least four more games at TI12, giving them 1123 games.
In terms of success, all those second-place finishes have resulted in a slightly lower win rate compared to other Dota 2 trios. Team Liquid's squad has won over 55% of their time together.
While impressive, it's not quite as scary as the combo of MinD_ContRoL, KuroKy, and Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, which won 65% of their games and an Aegis on top of that.
It will be interesting to see just how these Dota 2 trios stay together and which one will hold the record for most games together.
One thing is certain, it's unlikely any other threesome will match them in games anytime soon.
