"I don't want to be mediocre" CadiaN discusses joining Astralis and reuniting with stavn and jabbi
In a live interview on the Astralis Twitch channel, Casper “CadiaN” Møller gave insights ahead of joining the Danish organization in a move that raised eyebrows as the now ‘rifling’ in-game leader will reunite with his previous teammates from Heroic; Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard.
CadiaN touched on different aspects as the new captain for Astralis including what he can bring as a player, position changes, in addition to the jabbi and stavn situation. Here's a quick recap of what the new Astralis leader talked about.
“I don't want to be mediocre”
It’s no secret that Astralis couldn’t reach the winners’ podium with Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz calling the shots as they fell short in the playoffs with four consecutive 3rd-4th finishes. CadiaN addresses this particular aspect by rejecting mediocrity and having to travel just to end up eliminated in the playoffs.
“I don't want to be mediocre, I'm not here to travel 160 or 170 days a year just to bum-out the quarter finals of tournaments, so when I see potential in someone i will try to address it and make the most out of them and that's why joining astralis is exciting for me, because looking at the roster and people around the team, I know their capabilities.”

CadiaN’s impact and position changes
While Casper didn’t go in detail on the upcoming position changes ‘understandably’, he did confirm that there are position swaps for every player more or less, including device who’s wielding the big green gun but moving away from IGL'ing.
“There are position changes for more or less everyone because even if the device isn’t moving his position in game, he’s moving away from leading."

Additionally, the new in-game leader feels confident in his future calling based on his previous experiences, the 29-year-old claimed. According to his statement, jumping through different teams gained him the ability to make calls outside of the playbook.
“If we start as a player, I have a lot of ideas inside of the game because early on in my career I was jumping a lot through different teams I gained the ability to make a lot of calls on the fly which means its very natural for me to play outside of the playbook and make small plays and find solutions along the way as well.”

Different team, same CadiaN
Aside from being a decent in-game leader and an AWPer, CadiaN is a loud player regardless of the opponent. Yet, according to the interview, the hype is in fact for his teammates rather than the opposition as it allegedly improves their performance, which is an aspect that Astralis lacks according to him.
“A part of me as a competitor is to hype up my teammates, of course there can be some banter and trash talk with the opponent but for me 90% of my hype and passion is towards my own teammates and it has the effect that it improves their performance… With astralis that has been missing a little bit of that kinda daring to go out and say we want to fucking win and we know we can do it and thats some of the things I want to contribute with.”

No more beef
Finally, the Danish in-game leader addresses the jabbi and stavn situation after criticism rain down on him for reuniting with teammates who went behind his back. Luckily it’s all good in the hood as the involved parties had a discussion prior to CadiaN joining the team, and to anyone who doesn’t think it's talked through, Casper thinks you’re a little bit “crazy”
“If they don’t think this is talked through, they are a little bit crazy because of course we have talked and we know how much good we do for each other to be in a team together that's why we want to reunite as well.”
– CadiaN
The interview shed light on some important points ahead of Astralis signing CadiaN. Though this may lead to a triumphant team, the outcome remains uncertain, as they’re preparing for their debut at BLAST Premier: Fall Final on home soil in Copenhagen against Team Vitality.
