Dash rejoins LCS broadcast, leading his own interview show
Dash rejoins LCS, set to conduct his own show where he interviews players from the LCS.
Dash Originally Removed
On January 3, long-time LCS host James "Dash" Patterson announced his leave from the LCS on his Twitter. Dash Tweeted a picture of an official statement regarding his departure from the LCS. From Dash's statement: "...the new direction for the LCS doesn't have a need for a consistent host."
The same day, Dash went live on his Twitch account to provide more context on Riot's decision. What struck a chord with many community members, and likely a contributing factor towards the uproar in Riot's decision to remove Dash was a quote said by Dash on this January 3 livestream. Dash explains: "That was the saddening part in all of it, is that I wasn't spoken to prior to the news... that would probably be the only piece in the whole puzzle that really eats at me."
With the odds stacked against the LCS season, the frustration from the community was very real. Not only had Dash been removed, Phreak had left for the balance team, too.
Dash rejoins LCS
Per Riot Game's official 2023 Spring Split Primer, Dash has rejoined. Despite not announcing in any direct mention on Twitter or an Instagram post, Dash is confirmed to be involved in the broadcast in 2023. Further, the LCS Twitter shared a Travis Gafford interview with LCS Creative Director Justin Restaino, where Dash is mentioned. Specifically, Restaino mentions Dash will be hosting Spring and Summer Finals in the LCS.
While Riot has responded to feedback on the time-slot change for the LCS, they have also implemented Dash based on fan reception. Truly, the fans have shaped the 2023 LCS broadcast in someway, seeing how much fan outcry has made a difference.
The 2023 LCS season kicks-off on Thursday, January 26 at 3:00 PM EST where 100 Thieves and Cloud9 face-off!
