Day 2 of WEU Division 1: Playoffs Recap
There was an upset and triumph that happened on day 2 of the WEU playoffs. The Lima Major winners stumbled, here’s a brief recap of the action that took place.
Gaimin Gladiators Vs Ooredoo Thunders
The first series of the day was Ooredoo Thunders up against the Major winners, Gaimin Gladiators. Even though everyone expected the match to be one-sided, Ooredoo Thunder shocked everyone by taking the series.
In game 1, Ooredoo Thunder played brilliantly on top of midlane Puck and hard carry Drow Ranger. Even though Quinn was on his signature Leshrac, Ooredoo Thunders beautifully dealt with him swiftly. At 37 minutes, Ooredoo Thunders closed out game 1.
In game 2, GG demolished Ooredoo Thunders playing a fast-paced game with a hard carry Lifestealer and an offlane Broodmother. Having no answers to the aggression, OT tapped out at 29 minutes. Game 3 was a complete stomp by Ooredoo Thunders. Contesting stacks, finding crucial pickoffs and punishing GG for split pushing, OT completely shut down GG’s game plan. Eventually, at 40 minutes, with a score of 16 to 46, Ooredoo Thunder triumphs over the Major winners.
Nigma Galaxy Vs Entity
Fans were thrilled to watch the series between Nigma Galaxy and Enity as Nigma Galaxy has a new coach coming into the Spring Tour. Also, there were rumours about a role swap in the team.
In game 1, both teams test each other. However, Nigma Galaxy flinches first. Playing methodically, at 50 minutes, Entity claimed game 1. In game 2, the role swap happened, ATF played offlane Razor, and Mc played hard carry, Spectre. Sumail played brilliantly on his midlane Ember Spirit, creating space for his team and chaos for Entity. The late-game fights went back and forth, looking like it could be either team’s game. Eventually, Nigma Galaxy comes out on top at 58 minutes, closing out game 2.
In game 3, even though Nigma Galaxy won the laning stage, Entity preserved. At 24 minutes, a chaotic team fight goes the way of Entity, giving them a solid lead in the game. Eventually, at 43 minutes, Entity closed out game 3.
Team Liquid Vs OG
One of the anticipated matches for day 2 of the WEU playoffs was Team Liquid against OG. Both teams dropped their opening series in the Spring Tour.
The series was considered to be a close match. However, by stomping OG, Team Liquid proves they are a better team. In game 1, Team Liquid’s offlane Dawnbreaker and support Hoodwink relentlessly pressured OG’s hard carry, Monkey King, giving him a miserable game. Even though OG’s midlane Templer Assassin got a good start, it wasn’t enough. Team Liquid has the answers for both OG’s offlane and hard carry, and at 37 minutes, with a score of 32 - 12, Team Liquid eventually closed out game 1. Team Liquid played a fast-paced game in game 2. Having no answers to the tempo of Team Liquid and control of the game, OG eventually tapped out at 29 minutes.
