Dota 2 Patch 7.33: First Impressions
Dota 2 patch 7.33 is both exciting and terrifying. For new players, it’s probably a hard pill to swallow. Imagine spending 1000 hours trying to learn how Dota 2 works and then getting asked to relearn everything almost from scratch. But for veteran players, it is a great opportunity.
All of us can now embark on a new journey and explore the endless possibilities offered by the new map and the new items. The heroes are also radically changed in many cases, which means there are lots of new ways to gain an advantage and win.
What makes Dota 2 patch 7.33 terrifying is the fact that many changes are potentially overpowered. Heroes like Zeus, Beastmaster, and Phantom Lancer have already been noticed by the community for their almost ridiculous abilities, which make them seem invincible in the hands of a strong player like Artour “Arteezy” Babaev.

A New Map
The new Dota 2 map is significantly larger than the previous one. To compensate for this, IceFrog made all the heroes a bit faster. A lot of mobility augmentations have been added to the game to guarantee that the pace of the game doesn’t go down.
So far, the effects of the changes have been surprisingly good, at least at the professional level. At DreamLeague S19, a lot of the playoffs matches lasted for 45-60 minutes and featured numerous kills, as well as dozens of memorable displays of great skill.
It seems that Dota 2 patch 7.33 encourages fighting and games now look a lot more similar to fighting simulators instead of farming simulators. This is perfect for any esport because it gives the audience a reason to watch. Dota 2 should feel a lot more like StarCraft 2 and this patch is a step in the right direction.
The new Dota 2 map includes lots of new buildings and creatures to fight. Roshan is now located in one of the two new pits that were created for him, and can no longer be found sitting in the river. Every five minutes, he changes his location using one of the two teleporters that players can use to go from top to bottom.
There are 12 new creep camps and each side of the map has two Ancient camps. This means that heroes with excellent farming abilities will thrive if you know how to optimize your farming patterns.
Item and Hero Changes
Around half a dozen items were added to the game, and lots of old items were removed. Overall, there are now fewer ways to buff your entire team to the point where fighting becomes unattractive to the enemy side.
Heroes with stuns have been severely nerfed. All of the stuns in the game are now 10-20% weaker than before, which means that you should probably avoid such heroes and focus on those that can farm quickly.
