In the second week of VCT Pacific DRX and foxy9 took on Global Esports. After an intense series, DRX managed to come out on top, winning 2-0 over Global Esports. After the game in a post-match 1-on-1 exclusive interview, Strafe talked with DRX’s Duelist Foxy9. In the interview Foxy9 talks about his performance, the game, playing Jett on DRX, Adjusting to the team, playing his idol on the International stage and more.
Q. Congratulations on your game. How do you feel about your performance?
DRX Foxy9: “I will try even harder, Thank You”
Q. What do you think were the mistakes of today’s game from you and the team?
DRX Foxy9: “A lot of our strategies we prepared were lost because of our aims today. Our aims were not on point. All the plays we tried to make, we started off with a disadvantage because we lost the fights and I think that’s where our mistakes happened”
Q. In the just international matches you are going toe to toe with the best Jetts in the World, How do you feel about it?
DRX Foxy9: “I have been playing Valorant since it came out. So in the course of two years, I worked really hard. I even skipped sleeping at times. I am so glad that I got here and I am really happy to compete.
Q. How does it feel to compete on the big stage?
DRX Foxy9: “To be frank, I am really happy that I was given a chance to play on such a beautiful stage. But I tell myself that I have been deserving of this for a while. So I am not in awe but I deserve to play on the stage because I have gate it all for a long time”
Q. How does it feel to be the Duelist and the contact man for DRX, the best team of Korea and VCT Pacific? Does that pressure you?
DRX Foxy9: “Absolutely not. I don’t feel any pressure or burden playing under the DRX banner. If anything I feel I have so much more to learn to become the complete duelist for the team so I am focusing on that for now.”
Q. How was it adjusting to the team?
DRX Foxy9: “I have been practicing a lot with the team. I watched a lot of games on how the team plays. My teammates and coaches help me a lot with how we play against teams and that is how I am adjusting to the team”
Q. What are your expectations from the season?
DRX Foxy9: “My goal right now is to be on the starting line-up consistently, I don’t wanna lose my spot”
Q. There is a chance you’d face Sentinels and Tenz and Tokyo. Are you excited to face your idol?
DRX Foxy9: “Tenz is a player I have been looking upto a lot. I learnt a lot from watching him play and his videos. If I face him on an International Stage, I will tell myself I have made it and I will be really proud of myself.”
Q. You’d be facing GarnetS and Talon next week, what are your expectations from the matchup?
DRX Foxy9: “My teammates and my coaches have incredible set plays for countering Op’ers. So I will listen to what they say and I will play my best and keep that going.”
Q. Which team are you most excited to face in VCT Pacific?
DRX Foxy9: “I want to face T1 the most. They have been overseas for a while and then they came back and made a Korean roster so I want to see how they play against us. But I think we’d win”
Foxy9 and DRX will face Talon Esports in Week 3 of VCT Pacific. Talon will want to win the game to break the losing streak. But DRX will try to continue to reign supreme over the region and defend their throne.
