Fabian Bids Farewell to PSG Talon and Rainbow Six Siege

Fabian "Fabian" Hällsten, one of Rainbow Six Siege’s most decorated players, has parted ways with PSG Talon after one year as their head coach. The Swedish veteran, who previously played for PENTA, G2 Esports, and Team Vitality before transitioning into coaching, took over the South Korean squad in March 2024.

Under his leadership, PSG Talon qualified for three major international events—the BLAST R6 Major Manchester, the Esports World Cup 2024, and the Six Invitational 2025.

Despite falling short of making deep runs in these tournaments, PSG Talon proved their capability by taking down top-tier teams like Team BDS (twice), DarkZero Esports, and E1 Sports. Fabian’s tactical expertise helped the team grow significantly, but as he revealed in his farewell announcement, his ambitions extend beyond just competing—he wants to win.

Fabian’s Farewell: “I Want More”

In a heartfelt video posted on PSG Talon’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Fabian explained his decision to leave the team and the challenges he faced during his tenure in South Korea.

"A year ago, I decided to come here to Korea and pursue an adventure where, instead of competing to win every single event, I would be competing against myself to see if I could take a Korean team from the absolute bottom of every tournament to actually be a competitive team.

[...] We have beaten some of the world’s best teams, we have shown that Korea can play Rainbow Six Siege, but that’s not enough for me. I don’t want to just show we can play Siege—I want to win the events."

Fabian also cited deeper reasons for his departure, including the underdeveloped South Korean player pool and cultural differences that left him feeling like an outsider.

"No matter how hard we try, the region itself is too underdeveloped, the player pool simply isn’t a thing. There is a maximum of 10 OK international players, no real superstars that can take over a game against top-15 teams in the world. But I came with the idea to change that. I believe we did. [...] But I noticed I wasn’t done at the top level—I want more."

Language barriers and a lack of personal fulfillment played a role in his decision as well. Despite the support he received from PSG Talon, he ultimately felt that his future lay elsewhere.

Jok3r Takes Over as PSG Talon’s Head Coach

While Fabian’s departure marks the end of an era for PSG Talon, he leaves the team in the hands of Jonathaan "Jok3r" Paarsch. Jok3r, who was brought in as an analyst in May 2024, has now been promoted to head coach.

With Jok3r at the helm, PSG Talon will look to build upon the foundations Fabian helped establish and continue their journey towards becoming a true international contender.

What’s Next for Fabian?

Fabian’s next move remains uncertain, but recent life events suggest he may be stepping away from esports for good. The three-time Six Invitational champion recently got married, and he may choose to prioritize personal life over the grueling demands of professional Siege.

That being said, champions rarely stay away for long. If an opportunity arises that reignites his hunger for competition, fans might see him return in a new role—perhaps as a coach for a more established international team. Until then, we at Strafe Esports wish Fabian a happy married life and a well-earned retirement from Rainbow Six Siege.
