The 2024 edition of The Game Awards just wrapped on the 12th of December, and the esports world adds another 3 names to the wall. Worlds 2024 Finals MVP, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, claims another award in the League of Legends off-season, following his victory at the League Awards earlier this week, as well as PC Player of the Year at the 2024 Esports Awards.

Faker Wins Best Esports Athlete for Second Consecutive Year

The 28-year-old was named ‘Best Esports Athlete’ last night, beating out 5 other competitors including Gen.G rival, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.

His victory also solidified his status as one of the Greatest of All Times across esports, and was earned for his sublime performance in the 2024 World Championship, bringing home back-to-back championships for his organization and fans.

Furthermore, League of Legends and T1 also claimed awards in this edition of the show. League of Legends was named ‘Best Esports Game’, an award that fellow Riot Games catalogue dweller, VALORANT, earned last year.

T1 Wins Best Esports Team of 2024

T1 claimed ‘Best Esports Team’ , a well-earned accolade for their unassailable accomplishment in securing back-to-back World Championships with the same roster.

T1’s story in 2024 was nothing short of incredible. From suffering through DDoS attacks which impacted practice and the team’s performance, to narrowly qualifying for Worlds by the skin of their teeth; the team pulled through when it mattered, and proved themselves, as the defending World Champion, a calibre above their competition.
