FlyQuest of the League Championship Series (LCS) announced their Spring 2023 "League of Legends" roster between Dec. 8 and Dec. 13, crafting a roster that mixes young and veteran talent: Impact-Spica-VicLa-Prince-Eyla.

FlyQuest exited in 5th-6th place and 7th-8th place in the LCS's spring and summer playoffs respectively. The team hired 35-year-old Australian personality Christopher "PapaSmithy" Smith to be president and chief gaming officer on Nov. 10, while Belarusian head coach Alexey "Sharkz" Taranda appears to be staying with the team.

Two Korean imports

Two exciting young players from League Champions Korea (the LCK) have joined FlyQuest for 2023— 19-year-old midlaner Lee "VicLa" Dae-kwang and 22-year-old botlaner Lee "Prince" Chae-hwan.

VicLa has been a part of the LCK's KT Rolster organization since 2020, and was named this year's Korean rookie of the year. He replaces French midlaner Loïc "toucouille" Dubois, who will reportedly join Team GO of the Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL) according to BLIX.gg reporter Alejandro "anonimotum" Gomis.

Prince played the last four splits with Liiv SANDBOX and was one of the best botlaners in Korea this year. He takes the spot of Canadian botlaner Johnson "Johnsun" Nguyen, whose next team is currently unknown.

Who's on the rest of the squad?

Coming over from Evil Geniuses is 27-year-old Korean toplaner Jeong "Impact" Eon-young. He won the 2013 League of Legends World Championship with the LCK's SK Telecom T1 and has played in North America since 2015, spending splits with Team Impulse, NRG Esports, Cloud9, Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses. Impact slots in for Canadian toplaner Philip "Philip" Zeng, who is currently teamless.

The 2021 LCS Summer Split MVP, 21-year-old Chinese jungler Mingyi "Spica" Lu, will be FlyQuest's new jungler after Argentinian jungler Brandon Joel "Josedeodo" Villegas joined Estral Esports of the Liga Latinoamérica (LLA). Spica played the first two-and-a-half years of his career with the LCS's TSM and was the last player announced for FlyQuest's roster.

In the support role, legendary American support Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black has been replaced by 23-year-old Australian support Bill "Eyla" Nguyen. Eyla is a hyped prospect from Team Liquid Academy, while aphromoo appears to be taking a split off.
