Fnatic Valorant signs ex-GenG Coach Elmapuddy
Fnatic Valorant has to be one of the most successful Valorant roster of the VCT 2023 circuit. The team became the first roster to secure back-to-back international championships. They were indomitable at VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 and displayed dominance like no other.
Similar to their peers, Fnatic also had complaints regarding the scheduling of VCT 2023. In his departure tweet, Jacob “mini” Harris talked about leaving Fnatic’s head coach position in the search for “a better work-life balance.”
Mini has been together with Jake “Boaster” Howlett since their SUMN FC days. The duo was considered some of the best theory crafters in Valorant. Despite not so significant results in 2021 and 2022, Fnatic was considered one of the biggest threats in every tournament they attended.
Mini’s departure undoubtedly left a huge gap for Fnatic to fill. The search for mini’s replacement has concluded today. With Fnatic announcing the addition of Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit, VCT 2023 Gen.G’s head coach.
Elmapuddy’s coaching career saw him coaching the CSGO squads of Order, Cloud9 and Gen.G. He transitioned to coaching for the Gen.G Valorant squad in 2021. These are definitely strong credentials for mini’s replacement.
The Fnatic squad already has a strong leader in Boaster on the roster. The addition and experience of Elmapuddy will help the team explore the ideas from across the world.
Despite the success, Fnatic has always represented the EMEA playstyle, which has proved very effective. But as the Valorant esports develops, it becomes crucial to understand multiple playstyles and explore and experiment more outside of their own playstyle.
Elmapuddy’s experience brings just that, having worked in multiple top regions. Elmapuddy’s insights will help Fnatic reach greater heights.
The VCT 2024 Fnatic Valorant squad will be as follows:
- Jake “Boaster” Howlett
- Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev
- Emir Ali “Alfajer” Beder
- Leo “Leo” Jannesson
- Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov
- Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit (Head Coach)
- Youenn “Youenn” (Performance Coach)
Fnatic will play in the upcoming RedBull Home Grounds Japan starting on November 2nd. The event will be Elmapuddy’s debut in the orange and black.
