Freeing the Tiger: Gen.G announces ‘t3xture’ as newest Valorant pickup for 2024 VCT season

South Korea-based organization Gen.G has just announced their latest Valorant signing, Kim t3xture Na-ra. The announcement was made on Gen.G’s Twitter on the 26th of September. This marks the first pickup for Gen.G since their move earlier this month that saw them remove five of their players and both their coaches.

From Superstar to Supersquad

“t3xture” began his Valorant journey in 2021 when he joined DAMWON Gaming. He spent nearly two years with the roster before transferring to Global Esports as part of their seven-man lineup experiment. Na-ra was well-known within the South Korean scene for his duelist proficiency and was one of the stars picked up by Global Esports during their collection of talent in 2022.

Under the DAMWON banner, “t3xture” earned two top placements at VCT 2021 Korea Stage 1 Challengers 1 and Challengers 3 respectively. He also placed 2nd at the VCT 2021 Korea Stage 2 Challengers.

However, in 2023, with Global Esports, “t3xture” struggled to show the same level of form as he had in years prior, placing 17th-32nd in the VCT LOCK//IN event in São Paulo, Brazil (out in Round 1). Under the Global banner, he also competed in the VCT Pacific league, placing 8th during the regular season. Global would compete in the VCT Pacific Last Chance Qualifier, falling out in 5th-6th place to Rex Regum Qeon.

Who is t3xture?

Non-Pacific Valorant aficionados may not be familiar with “t3xture”. Having competed mostly regionally, his one and only international stint was his one series played with Global Esports at VCT LOCK//IN.

“t3xture” was a duelist main who primarily played entry specialist in South Korea. He was known for Jett, on which he has logged a total of 127 games played. On Global, he continued that trend for the most part, however, has mostly swapped over to other duelists like Raze and Phoenix. Due to the nature of Global’s lineup, with multiple duelist mains, he has more recently logged time on Killjoy, freeing up fellow teammate Ganesh SkRossi Gangadhar to pick up Jett.

However, in Global’s most recent games, he has also been performing as their top fragger in most games, delivering the much needed numbers that some of the other members have been unable to.

Future of Gen.G

With his homecoming to South Korea, Gen.G begins to look promising once more after releasing nearly their entire roster and support staff. The addition of “t3xture” will hopefully bring much needed firepower that the roster has lacked in 2023.

  • Kim “Meteor” Tae-O
  • Kim “t3xture” Na-ra
