The CS2 IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3 has its first two playoff-bound teams. FURIA and Team Spirit both closed out perfect 3-0 records, securing their spots in the knockout stage before anyone else. Two very different roads, but the same destination.

FURIA: Calm, Collected, and Dangerous

FURIA sent a clear message to the rest of the Major contenders. The Brazilian squad entered Stage 3 through a direct invite as one of the top teams in the world and didn't let the pressure shake them for a second.

First they beat B8 2-0 without breaking a sweat, then closed out a comfortable 2-1 win over MOUZ, and finally sealed the deal by beating BetBoom 2-0, officially punching their ticket to playoffs.

The BetBoom series was pretty a convincing display. FURIA controlled the pace from the start and never gave their opponents a way back in. Their game sense and discipline stood out throughout the run, and going into playoffs with three straight wins is about as good in terms of momentum as it gets.

The faithful Brazilians have every reason to believe this squad can make a deep run at the LANXESS Arena.

Spirit's Hard Road to the Top

Team Spirit's path to 3-0 was anything but smooth, and that's what makes it so impressive.

The Russian squad had to deal with a significant off-server setback after both coaches, hally and S0tF1k, missed Stage 2 due to hospitalization and visa issues, respectively. IGL magixx had to carry extra responsibility throughout the Swiss Stage, and the team still delivered.

Spirit opened Stage 3 by defeating Natus Vincere 2-0, then Aurora 2-1, and finally they faced an opponent nobody expected to see in the 2-0 pool: 9z.

The South Americans were riding a stunning run and had real momentum going into the matchup. Spirit went through a hard time before eventually waking up and winning an extremely close series with a 2-1, completing a perfect Stage 3 with their three final maps all going to overtime.

Can 9z Keep Suprising Us?

9z are 100% the story of IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3. The Argentinian squad arrived in Stage 3 after grinding through two previous Swiss stages, entering as heavy underdogs. They swept TYLOO 2-0, then edged past PARIVISION 2-1 in a difficult series. And then they did something that genuinely shocked the Counter-Strike world: they took down Team Vitality, the world's #1 ranked team, 2-1.

This team has put together something really special. The defending Major champions had no answer for the relentless style 9z brought to the server. It's a reality check for apEX and ZywOo's squad, and a historic moment for Argentine CS.

The Cologne run isn't over yet. 9z dropped their first loss to Spirit, but a 3-1 or 3-2 finish still gets them into playoffs. This squad is young, hungry, and already proven on the biggest stage. They beat the world's best team at a Major. Whatever happens next, nobody is sleeping on 9z again.
