Only weeks after Gen.G’s surprising decision to part ways with three core players, the organization has now finalized its roster for the 2025 VCT Pacific season.

The initial roster shake-up left fans in disbelief, particularly after Gen.G’s success as the first international champions from the Pacific region. However, the team has rebuilt swiftly, and the 2025 season now looks promising with the addition of two key players: Chae "yoman" Young-mun and Jung "Foxy9" Jae-sung.

Yoman Joins After Impressive 2024 in Tier 2 Scene

The first vacant spot was filled by Chae "yoman" Young-mun, a talented Initiator player who previously competed with Rare Atom in 2023. He spent the 2024 season with Nongshim RedForce, a Korean Tier 2 team, where he consistently demonstrated his skills.

Yoman’s performance helped Nongshim RedForce secure a 3rd place finish in Challengers Korea Split 1 and a runner-up position in Split 2. His addition to Gen.G signals a step up in competition as he looks to make an impact in the 2025 VCT Pacific.

Foxy9 Switches Sides from DRX

Gen.G’s second and final addition to complete the roster is another Initiator, Jung "Foxy9" Jae-sung. Formerly of DRX, Foxy9 was benched earlier this month along with Beyn, as DRX worked on their own roster overhaul. However, DRX’s resurgence in the latter half of 2024 highlighted his potential. And he now seeks a fresh start with Gen.G.

With both yoman and Foxy9 specializing as Initiators, there is uncertainty over which player will step into the shoes of Lakia. His departure left a gap in one of the most critical roles, and both yoman and Foxy9 will need to prove they are up to the challenge. They face high expectations, as Lakia was awarded the best Initiator in the VCT Pacific last season.

Eyes on Busan: A First Test for the New Roster

Gen.G fans won’t have to wait long to see the newly formed team in action. The Tiger Nation is set to compete in the TEN Invitational in Busan in just two days. The tournament promises an exciting showdown. As Foxy9 is slated to face off against his former team, DRX, in the final group-stage round.
