Gen.G are the first team to qualify for the Worlds 2026 Grand Final. The South Korean squad swept Invictus Gaming 3-0 on Saturday, November 7, in the first semifinal of the League of Legends World Championship in Allen, Texas. The victory sends Gen.G to the November 14 title match, marking their first Worlds final under the Gen.G name, adopted in 2018.

The defeat also brings Invictus Gaming's tournament run to an end. The 2018 world champions had already faced Gen.G in their opening match of the Swiss Stage, losing that best-of-one encounter. Their Worlds 2026 semifinal rematch ended with another Gen.G victory, this time in a best-of-five series.

How Gen.G Swept Invictus Gaming

Gen.G opened the series with a convincing Game 1 victory, finishing with a 29-9 kill advantage in 33 minutes and 43 seconds. Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk was one of the standout performers on Jhin, posting a 9/2/11 KDA. Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu also delivered a strong performance on Qiyana, finishing 7/1/12, while top laner Kim "Kiin" Gi-in played Olaf.

Gen.G extended their series lead to 2-0 in Game 2, securing another victory with 27 kills to IG's nine in just 29 minutes and 21 seconds. Canyon switched to Lee Sin and went deathless with a 5/0/15 KDA. Ruler also impressed on Ashe, recording 7/3/15.

Game 3 was much closer. Invictus Gaming finished ahead in kills, 18-16, largely thanks to Song "Rookie" Eui-jin's 11/2/5 performance on Locke. However, Gen.G destroyed nine towers to IG's five and finished with 78.1K gold compared to the Chinese team's 71.6K.

Ruler ended the final game with a 7/3/7 KDA on Yunara, while Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon played Taliyah and finished 3/3/11. Gen.G closed out the game after 40 minutes and 13 seconds, completing the 3-0 sweep.

With this result, Gen.G remain undefeated at Worlds 2026. They advanced through the Swiss Stage with a 3-0 record before sweeping LYON 3-0 in the quarterfinals and repeating that scoreline against Invictus Gaming.

Gen.G Reach Their First Worlds Final Since Rebranding in 2018

Despite being one of the LCK's most successful teams in recent years, Gen.G had never reached a World Championship final since adopting their current name in 2018. They had come close on several occasions, including in 2024 and 2025, but were eliminated in the semifinals by T1 and KT Rolster, respectively.

The organization's history, however, is closely tied to a previous world title. Gen.G took over the League of Legends operations of Samsung Galaxy, the 2016 Worlds runners-up and 2017 world champions. In their title-winning run, Samsung Galaxy defeated SK Telecom T1 3-0 in the Grand Final, with Ruler, now Gen.G's ADC, earning Finals MVP honors.

Nine years later, Ruler will have another chance to compete for the World Championship title.

Gen.G Await T1 or BLG in the Worlds 2026 Grand Final

Gen.G will learn who they will face in the final on Sunday, November 8, when T1 face Bilibili Gaming in the second semifinal. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 PM PT / 4 PM CST (Texas) / 5 PM ET / 11 PM CET, with the winner claiming the remaining spot in the championship match.

The Worlds 2026 Grand Final will take place on Saturday, November 14, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The best-of-five series is scheduled to begin at 11 AM PT / 1 PM CST / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CET and will determine the 2026 League of Legends world champions.

Meanwhile, Invictus Gaming finish Worlds 2026 among the tournament's top four teams. The organization had reached the semifinals for the first time in seven years after defeating Top Esports 3-1 in the quarterfinals, but their run ends against the LCK representatives.
