GIANTX has officially announced that Igor "Redgar" Vlasov will be benched from the main roster in the middle of VCT 2024 EMEA Stage 2. The organization revealed this decision through a statement posted on their X account.

The announcement also introduced Ramses "Famsii" Koivukangas from UCAM Esports Club as the new addition to the starting lineup for the remainder of the VALORANT Champions Tour.

A Brief Yet Challenging Tenure

Redgar's journey with GIANTX began in October 2023 after he transitioned from Team Liquid to what was then known as Giants, prior to their merger with Excel Esports. Despite his brief stint, the move proved to be challenging for the Russian player.

Under Redgar's leadership, GIANTX had a disappointing performance during the VCT EMEA Kickoff, losing both of their Group Stage matches. The struggle persisted into Stage 1, where the team secured only one victory out of five group stage matches.

Despite the setbacks in previous stages, GIANTX displayed an improved performance in Stage 2. They managed to secure victories in their opening match against Gentle Mates and against NaVi, with their only loss coming from KOI in Week 2.

However, the organization made the decision to bench Redgar to seek new dynamics in the team’s gameplay.

Looking Ahead

With Famsii stepping into the roster, the team has yet to reveal who will take over the role of in-game leader. The new lineup for GIANTX will feature Fitlnho, Cloud, Hoody, PurpO, and Famsii for the upcoming matches. The team aims to leverage this change to explore all possibilities of entering the playoffs. And ultimately aiming for the VALORANT Champions.

Redgar, showing his sportsmanship and dedication to the team's success, made a heartfelt statement to the fans:

“We still have a chance to go to playoff and this change, which organisation made, is to achieve it! Show support to players in their next games, wish them all the best to do this!”

The decision to bench Redgar, though difficult, reflects GIANTX’s commitment to improving their performance and achieving better results in the VALORANT Champions Tour. Fans and supporters of the team will be keenly watching to see how these changes impact the team’s future performance.
