HANWHA LIFE Esports shuffles roster ahead of 2024 LCK season
Hanwha Life Esports has announced their contract renewal of Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo for the 2024 season. The Worlds winner is set to continue with the organization alongside Park “Viper” Do-hyeon. Stand-in jungler Jo “Grizzly” Seung-hoon is also still part of the roster, however, it is unknown at this time if Hanwha intends to continue with him.
Moreover, Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon and Kim “Life” Jeong-min have both seen their time on Hanwha come to an end. Kingen, the Top Laner, had won Worlds in 2022, and it was his MVP performance that led to both DRX winning Worlds and both he and Zeka moving to Hanwha in the off-season last year.
However, he was not able to replicate the success, and now he will see a separation from his final former teammate from the Worlds-winning roster. While Kingen’s performance in 2023 was not abysmal, he did show some signs of struggle, and was not particularly note-worthy in performance.
Life for his part, was an adequate support that shone during the Enchanter Support meta. However, heading into an Engage Support heavy meta, he was not able to keep up, as was reflected by his poorer winrates on champions such as Rell, Nautilus and Alistar. Furthermore, his struggles with Rakan only solidified Hanwha’s inability to really get going, despite the star power on the roster.
