HooXi to miss IEM Dallas, G2 eyeing Stewie2k as a potential sub
G2 Esports will navigate IEM Dallas without captain and in-game leader Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen due to a personal scheduling conflict, confirmed by the team's General Manager Petar "peca" Marković to Dust2.us.
As the tournament approaches, the organization is on the lookout for a suitable stand-in to fill HooXi's shoes.
The team is currently looking at former American superstar and Major winner Jake "Stewie2k" Yip as a potential substitute.
Exploring Stand-in Options:
With HooXi sidelined, G2 is actively considering candidates to step in for the American event. Among the potential stand-ins, Jake "Stewie2K" Yip emerges as a frontrunner.
Stewie2K's potential inclusion would mark his return to LAN competition since his stint with Evil Geniuses at the Americas RMR for PGL Major Antwerp.
Audric "JACKZ" Jug had indicated that he was initially supposed to stand in for G2 at IEM Dallas 2024. However, ESL rules prevented his participation due to his involvement in qualifiers with a random mix team.
Stewie2K's Recent Activity:
Stewie2K recently embarked on a trial basis with Legacy following Marcelo "coldzera" David's departure. Thus illustrating his readiness to re-engage with competitive play.
His performance with Legacy, and notably his adaptability to roles and English communication, positions him as a viable option for G2 at IEM Dallas.
While Stewie2K stands as a potential stand-in, Guilherme "saadzin" Pacheco is set to replace him in Legacy upon acquiring a US visa and finalizing his transfer from W7M.
G2's Ongoing Campaign:
The news of HooXi's absence arrives amid G2's participation in ESL Pro League Season 19. Despite challenges, the team navigated through Group B to secure a playoff spot. And managed to defeat BIG in their initial bracket stage match.
HooXi's absence at IEM Dallas poses a strategic and leadership challenge for G2 as they aim to maintain momentum in their competitive endeavors.
