Hop to the Shop: Valorant Luna Skin Bundle, release date, cost, skin options and variants
Cute and Themed
As has become tradition, every Lunar New Year for Valorant brings the seasonally themed skin. In 2023, it is the Year of the Rabbit, and thus, the Luna Skin Bundle will arrive complete with a devilishly cute new gun buddy.
Valorant has celebrated the previous two Chinese New Years with skin bundles. The Year of the Ox in 2021 was rung in with the Celestial Bundle, and the Tigris Bundle in 2022 celebrated the Year of the Tiger.
Bundle Details
The Luna Skin Bundle will officially be available for purchase on the 26th of Jan, on Thursday. The bundle will arrive after the Chinese New Year does, which will fall on the 22nd of Jan.
The exact price has yet to be confirmed, however falls into the similar vein of player card and gun buddy as the Celestial bundle did. The cost will likely be on the higher side, between 7100 VP to 8700VP. The arrival of the bundle will also likely signal the departure of the well-received ‘dangerous’ Araxys bundle.
The Luna Skin Bundle will include a skin for the Vandal, Spectre, Marshall, Ghost and Knife (known as Luna’s descent). It will also include a custom playercard and gun buddy. Like the Celestial gun buddy, this bundle will include a gun buddy that lights up and turns ‘angry’ when the weapon is fired. The gun buddy and knife have already drawn the most interest for the collection. (Watch video on Celestial Gun Buddy, 7.45min mark onwards)
This bundle does not include any special kill banners or finishers but does include a level upgrade for SFX.
Extra Lore
For the thrill seekers and lore junkies, here are some extra titbits:
- The Rabbit is commonly associated to the Moon in East Asian cultures due to the shape of the shadow on the dark side of the Moon.
- The Rabbit depicted in East Asian cultures often have the rabbit pounding on a pestle and mortar on the surface of the Moon (the contents of the mortar differ between countries).
- In East Asian mythology, the Chinese Goddess Chang’e (or Chang-Er) is known as the goddess of the Moon. She is often depicted with her companion, the Rabbit, creating an elixir of life.
- The script on 'Luna’s Descent', is written as 兔 (phonetically: tù/ t-oo), which translates as Rabbit or Hare.
- People born in the Year of the Rabbit are typically depicted as swift both in movement and actions. They are also known to be quick-witted and kind. Transversely, they are also soft and tender personality wise, making them modest and able to maintain pleasant relationships with people. They are not easily irritated and avoid arguments whenever possible (so no flaming teammates when equipping this bundle!)
