How to Valorant: Understanding "Operator Agent" Chamber

An alternative to Jett as an operator agent, Chamber became the agent who took over Valorant. The agent's pick rate only improved after the Jett nerfs, making Chamber a must-pick agent on almost all the maps. The casual and competitive scene had equally high pick rates, and not picking Chamber was almost equivalent to throwing the game.

With his highly efficient and nearly broken kit, the community started hating how much the agent had taken over the sentinel role and how easy it was to play the agent without many repercussions. To date, Chamber is one of the most picked agents in Valorant. The whole community has a love-hate relationship with a rather anti-heroic Chamber.

Chamber's Ability Kit:

Chamber falls under the Sentinel Role in Valorant, but with the kit facilitating fragging and aggressive plays, he can qualify as a duelist. Let's break down his kit and understand what he offers.

Chamber's Ability Kit Credits: Riot Games

Basic Ability Trademark (C):

A trap which scans the enemies and slows them when they are in the trap's LOS. The ability's cost is 200 credits, and it slows down the enemies by 50% for 6s.

Basic Ability Headhunter (Q):

A heavy pistol similar to a pre-nerf Sheriff. It holds eight bullets, and each bullet costs 150 credits. The ability inflict 159 damage to the head, 55 to body and 47 to limbs.

Signature Ability Rendezvous(E):

Place two anchors and teleport between the two. The ability has a cooldown of 30s, and the teleport takes 1.3s. The anchors have 80HP, and the cooldown increases to 45s if the enemy destroys the anchor.

Ultimate Ability Tour De Force(X):

Tour De Force is a faster operator with five bullets. The windup time of the tour de force is 2.3s, much faster than the regular operator. The ult inflicts 255 damage on the head, 150 on the body and 127 on the legs. It also spawns a slow field after killing an enemy, which lasts 6s and slows the enemy by 50%.

The kit helps players take aggressive fights and teleport out of the aggressive angles with little to no effort making Chamber a great agent for operators as it can cancel out the Chunky operator.

Playing Chamber in Valorant:

Similar to other sentinels, Chamber's kit is straightforward to understand. The rendezvous is a better Jett dash, as Chamber can decide where to teleport back. It helps Chamber to fall back to a safe place. The headhunter is a more efficient, broken side arm with a faster pull-up time and little to no recoil. Tour De Force is a faster operator, and the slow field completely shuts down an attack. In terms of efficiency, Chamber's ult is only second to Jett Knives.

While there are multiple ways to play Chamber, Chamber is the operator agent in the game; the combination of Operator and Chamber is a match made in "Haven." The rendezvous allows Chamber to get back to safety and hold a more defensive angle while op'ing, making the operator much more efficient on Chamber.

The same rendezvous helps Chamber double as an entry fragger and a great flank. While entering, if the agent has trouble, he can teleport back to safety without much damage. A carefully placed rendezvous can help the agent reposition quickly. The trademark not only helps with flanking enemies but, combined with other of Chamber's kit can be used to punish them effectively.

A standard chamber play on defense will be Chamber actively holding one-site entry and using the trademark to cover the second entry. E.g., Chamber can watch Haven C long and place the trademark in the Garage. The rendezvous on defense can either help to reposition or get the agent back to safety.

Chamber is also one of the most cost-effective agents and allows ingenious plays. Chamber's abilities ensure the agent remains a threat on eco rounds. With eight headhunter bullets and the Tour-de-force, Chamber can easily win an eco round. With such a versatile and amazing kit, a chamber is one of the hardest agents to deal with. Especially in the pre-fade era, a strong operator player just held an offensive angle got away with a kill. Even today, the agent is really hard to deal with, and can completely take over a game if not countered properly.

What makes Chamber a broken agent?

The most busted part of the Chamber is the headhunter and the Tour-de-force. The tour-de-force in itself isn't as broken but combined with the slow field, it is pretty hard to counter. The eight-bullet Head Hunter has relatively no bullet spread and is spammable, making it exploitable. And after exploiting his headhunter and tour-de-force the agent uses rendezvous to get away with murder. The combination is very hard to punish making chamber a broken agent.

While there have been nerfs to the agent, a good nerf would be reducing the headhunter magazine size to four bullets and increasing the equip time. This will ensure players use the bullets more carefully and do not get away with spamming as much. Reducing the Tour-de-force slow duration will also significantly increase the chances to counter the agent. The agent's rendezvous and trademark abilities are in good state and touching them might ruin the agent.

Tips for Chamber Mains:

A good operator player will be pretty good on Chamber. The following tips will help to enhance the agent plays.

  • Practising Operator and Headhunter regularly to get maximum value out of the kit.

  • Mixing aggressive and passive plays and constantly changing sites will make it hard for enemies to counter.

  • Finding off-angles and understanding the timings will maximize the agent's effectiveness.

  • Flanking from a different site and often repositioning to catch enemies off-guard.

  • Understanding and managing the economy to ensure a weapon every round.

While playing the agent normally is good enough, adding the spice makes it unbearable for the enemy. The agent's kit allows the agent to catch enemies off-guard, punish over-aggression and make plays to aid the team. The agent's ult and headhunter have outshone the agent's signature. But the agent's kit's star is the "rendezvous", and we will see the true power of Chamber's "rendezvous" with nerfs to the agent's Q and X.

Despite all the criticism and the hate, Chamber is one of the most fun agents to play, and It will always be one of the signature agents in Valorant.
