Into The Breach part ways with Thomas
Into The Breach has officially parted ways with their long-serving player Thomas "Thomas" Utting, after two months on sidelines.
Thomas's last appearance for Into The Breach was during PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR. Which since then, the British organization benched the majority of their roster including Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras, Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier and later “Thomas”.
The repercussions of missing out on the EU RMR had a substantial impact on Into The Breach, resulting in the loss of sponsors. Consequently, they halted their CS2 operations, opting for a hard reset and rebuild in the summer.
According to the CEO Sam Macedonio, the team will be back in the summer period with fresh faces for the Shanghai Major.
“We'll be back in Summer but out of CS for now while we hard reset and rebuild. Will remain focused on a single nationality core when we're back, then focus on Shanghai Major qualification”. - Into the Breach CEO Sam "SlayTheMinotaur" Macedonio
Into The Breach and “Thomas” made history with their legendary run during the BLAST Paris Major 2023. As if reaching the most prestigious event wasn’t enough, the team exceeded expectations by reaching the Quarter-Finals, where they lost to champions, Team Vitality.
Following their momentary triumph, the captain took a break and stepped down from the starting lineup, to focus on himself, his performance, and his approach to the newly released game at the time; CS2.
"This was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my career, but I will be temporarily stepping back from the starting roster," Thomas said in a statement.
Despite his comeback a few months later, Thomas's tenure was cut short with the team’s recent disbandment.
