Is Dendi Back? B8 results are Backing It
B8, a team founded by one the most cherished personalities and The International Dota 2 Champion Danil "Dendi" Ishutin, is no stranger to disappointing results. The team has been struggling ever since it was founded back in 2020.
Failing to maintain their spot in Division II, the team showed up occasionally in Eastern Europe Division II. Tier 2 tournaments weren’t kind to the team either. Getting knocked out in the early stages and getting eliminated at the qualifiers were the only consistent results that the team achieved during their time in Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, fans always support the team and their favourite legend.
Beginning of the new days
In 2022, after a series of disappointing results, the team disbanded. The team rebuild with new management and a new roster. The new management announced the team will now compete in the North American region. In the 2022-2023 DPC season, the team came to NA Division I by acquiring the slot from WildCard Gaming.
The team struggled at first, losing to the top teams in the region, TSM, Shopify Rebellion and Nouns. However, they soon found their footing and secured enough points to keep their slot at Division I for the Spring Tour.
In the Spring Tour, the team started showing signs of life by winning their opening series against WildCard Gaming. The two consecutive series that followed were not kind to B8, but they managed to bounce back hard by winning their series against FELT and Dogchamp. Currently, they are in the 4th place in North American DPC.
Questionable Move?
Recalling his past disqualification, The Lima Major winner Quinn "Quinn" Callahan called out the team for “region hopping”. However, fans disapproved of his accusations, proving the two cases were not alike when inspected closely. In Quinn’s case, his team had two SA members and three NA members. Valve’s rule book indicates three players should be present in the region the team is competing in. Quinn’s former team worked out this rule by flying the team members to SA for the qualifiers but flying out once the team qualified. Eventually, once word got out, Valve was frustrated and ended up giving a verdict of disqualification.
However, B8 moved its entire roster to North America. They even set up a boot camp in Mexico and physically remained there throughout the DPC season. The team only left the region during a break.
