Leviatán Sign Itopata as Head Coach as Goked Leaves
On June 5th, the Brazilian VALORANT team Leviatán announced that their head coach, Alex "Goked" Kie, would be stepping down from his position.
In an official statement, the team expressed their gratitude for Goked's contributions over the past few months and wished him well for his future endeavors.
Itopata Takes the Helm
Just a few days later, on June 13th, Leviatán revealed that Dimitar "Itopata" Staev, previously the assistant coach, would be promoted to the head coach role.
Alongside this promotion, Preston "Juv3nile" Domon was brought in as the new assistant coach for the remainder of the season. This change marks a significant shift in the team's leadership as they prepare for the upcoming competitions.
Goked's Tenure and Achievements
Alex "Goked" Kie joined Leviatán as the head coach in October 2023. During his tenure, he led the team to victory at the Superdome Colombia 2023, an invitational tournament where Leviatán triumphed over teams such as Cloud9, FURIA, and KRU Esports.
However, despite this early success, the team experienced a mixed performance in official VCT competitions. Leviatán had an unfavorable exit in the Group Stage of the VCT Americas Kickoff.
But the team managed to secure a commendable 3rd place finish in VCT Americas Stage 1. Which earned them a spot in the VCT Masters Shanghai. Unfortunately, their journey in Shanghai ended prematurely with another unfavorable exit during the Swiss Stage.
With Itopata now at the helm, Leviatán aims to build on their past achievements and overcome previous shortcomings. The team is optimistic that this change in leadership will pave the way for new strategies and successes as they head into VCT Americas Stage 2. Fans and analysts alike will be keenly watching how these adjustments impact the team's performance in the upcoming competitions.
