Americas LoL Tier-2 2025: Leagues, Format, Schedule and more!
Professional League of Legends in the Americas is set to look entirely different in 2025 from what we’ve grown accustomed to. With the introduction of the LTA (League of Legends Championship of The Americas) and its brand new format and teams, 2025 also promises major changes coming to the Tier-2 scene in the Americas.
All of the following changes to the Americas Tier-2 scene aim to give emerging teams and players more space to shine, as well as create a more sustainable ecosystem for the esport as a whole in the region.
Americas Tier-2 Leagues and Teams for 2025
Like the Tier-1 scene - the LTA - the Americas Tier-2 will be split into two conference: North and South. Each of these conferences will feature two leagues, meaning that Tier-2 will be comprised of four leagues total.
The North Conference leagues will be the NACL (North America Challengers League) and the LRN (Liga Regional Norte). The NACL will be made up of a total of 10 teams, while the LRN will have 8 teams.
In the South Conference, the two leagues will take the form of the CD (Circuito Desafiante), which will feature 10 teams, and the LRS (Liga Regional Sur), made up of 8 total teams.

Promotion Tournament
To start us off, promotion will be making a comeback with the LTA in 2025. Once a year, the promotion tournament will see the two Guest Slot teams – that’s Disguised in the LTA North and Isurus in the LTA south – battle it out against the top two Tier-2 teams from each league.
The winners of the promotion tournament will earn the right to compete in the LTA North and South conferences, respectively, for one year as Guest Teams. At the end of the year, these Guest Teams will have the chance to defend their position in the Tier-1 scene in the following promotion tournament.
The introduction of the promotion system to the LTA is one of the major bright spots for the Tier-2 scene in the Americas, granting rising talent a chance to earn a spot among the giants of the LTA. By making it to the LTA leagues, emerging Tier-2 teams will even have the chance to fight for a spot at international tournaments such as the brand new First Stand, MSI, or even Worlds.
Americas Tier-2 Format in 2025
The Tier-2 season in 2025 will be separated into two splits, with the promotion tournament taking place at the end of the year after the conclusion of the second split.
Split 1 of the Tier-2 season will feature the introduction of Fearless Draft, meaning no one champion can be picked more than once in a single series. The Split 1 regular season will feature a single round robin, with all matches being best-of-three. In turn, the playoffs will take place across a double elimination bracket.
Split 2 will feature a shorter regular season than Split 1, and will take the form of a single round robin with matches being best-of-one. The playoffs, however, will retain the double elimination format. Fearless Draft will not be used across Split 2, as its effects are still being tested.
The Promotion Tournament will see the top two teams to come out of the Split 2 playoffs face off against the Guest Team from the LTA. Each conference (North and South) will have its own promotion tournament, featuring teams for their respective conferences in both the Tier-1 and Tier-2 leagues.
Important to note is also the fact that every Tier-2 league will also include open qualifier tournaments with no rank requirement or team limit. This means that the bottom performing teams in Tier-2 will have to defend their spots in the league against all of the emerging talent trying to come in each year.
Americas Tier-2 2025 Schedule
The Americas Tier-2 schedule is set to align with the second and third LTA splits. This means the schedule will look as follows:
- Split 1: March to June 2025
- Split 2: July to September 2025
- Promotion Tournament: October 2025
All of the changes coming to the Tier-2 scene in the Americas will help strive towards a more competitive environment that aims to allow every bit of emerging talent in the region to have a fair shot at making it in professional League of Legends.
With that in mind, all the way from Qualifiers, to Tier-2 and the exciting inauguration of the LTA, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for League of Legends in the Americas.
