The 31-year-old MaRin has never coached professionally before, and he replaces André "Guilhoto" Pereira Guilhoto, who left Team Liquid on Sept. 19 after ten months with the team.

MaRin began his professional career with SK Telecom T1 as a substitute in 2013 and became the starter in 2015. With some of the most dominant top lane play in the history of the esport, MaRin led his team to a 3-1 win against the KOO Tigers in the Worlds Final at the 2015 League of Legends World Championship.

MaRin competes with SK Telecom T1 against the KOO Tigers in the 2015 League of Legends World Championship Final.

After the championship, MaRin joined LGD Gaming of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) for one year in 2016, the Afreeca Freecs of League Champions Korea (LCK) for one year in 2017, and the LPL's Topsports (later known as Top Esports) for one year in 2018. He retired from pro play on Jan. 19, 2019.

The LCS titans aren't done making moves

Team Liquid will supposedly field a 2023 roster largely composed of Korean speakers, with Belgian toplaner Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau and Danish jungler Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen rumored by Brieuc "LEC Wooloo" Seeger and Travis Gafford to be replaced by Korean toplaner Park "Summit" Woo-tae and an unknown import jungler. According to LEC Wooloo, Santorin has agreed to join Dignitas, and Bwipo will be teamless in 2023, according to comments the player made on stream.

LEC Wooloo also reported that midlaner Soren "Bjergsen" Bjerg, who left Team Liquid on Nov. 11, has agreed to join 100 Thieves and will be replaced on Team Liquid by their Academy midlaner Harry "Haeri" Kang. With Steven "Hans sama" Liv having left on Sept. 19, Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in is the only remaining player from Team Liquid's 2022 roster.
