Mixwell parts ways with Team Heretics
Oscar "Mixwell" Cañellas has confirmed that he will not be renewing his content creation contract with Team Heretics. In a video message, the Spanish FPS veteran shared that while his relationship with Heretics remains strong, he has upcoming projects that prevent him from continuing with the organization.
"It has nothing to do with the club. I’ve had an incredible time with the team, supporting them fully, but my plans for next year are simply incompatible" - Mixwell
He also took the opportunity to thank Team Heretics and their sponsors, praising the club’s efforts in fostering a positive environment during his transition from professional player to content creator. Despite his departure, Mixwell emphasized that he will continue to support the team, adding: "I like the team; it’s the one I like the most."
Retirement from Competitive Play
This announcement comes 1 year after Mixwell officially retired from competitive esports earlier in 2023. With a storied career that began in 2012 as a Counter-Strike AWPer, Mixwell quickly rose to prominence and played for top organizations throughout his career. After nine successful years in CS, Mixwell transitioned to Valorant in 2020, signing with G2 Esports and playing a key role in their dominant early run in the VCT EMEA series.
While his time in esports has come to an end, Mixwell’s influence on the FPS scene remains undeniable. As he shifts his focus to new projects in 2024, fans will be eager to see what the future holds for one of Spain’s most renowned esports figures.
