Arcane's Ambessa: New League of Legends Champion Abilities Revealed
The newest addition to the League of Legends roster, Arcane's Ambessa, is ready to tear the rift apart.
Ambessa's release will come with patch 14.22, set to be released on November 6th. Her addition to the game will mark the very first time that a character from Arcane is introduced into League of Legends, rather than the other way around.
As we prepare for the release of Arcane Season 2, and all of the exciting new in-game additions Riot Games has readied to go along with it, it will be exciting to watch how Ambessa fits into the game.
Who is Ambessa Medarda?
Ambessa was first introduced in Season 1 of Arcane. A Noxian general, Ambessa and her family hold a position of prestige and power in the Noxus region. As a masterful war general, she stands behind several of Noxus' great battle victories.
Mel Medarda, Ambessa's daughter, is a prominent character in Arcane's Season 1, where she can be seen serving in the ruling council of Piltover.
An imposing figure in every sense, Ambessa will aspire to instill the same levels of fear on the rift as she does in Noxus.
Expect Ambessa to play a larger role in Arcane Season 2, as she's shaping up to be one of the main antagonists before the show's return.
Ambessa's abilities in League of Legends
Passive - Drakehound's Step
Entering an attack or movement command while casting an ability will cause Ambessa to dash a short distance after the ability has finished casting.
Additionally, casting an ability grants Ambessa's next attack bonus range, damage, and attack speed, as well as causing it to refund energy.
Q - Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam
Ambessa sweeps her twin drakehounds in a semicircle in front of her, dealing bonus damage to enemies hit by the blades.
Striking an enemy will transform the next cast of this ability for a short period of time, causing her to slam her twin drakehounds down in a line in front of her, dealing bonus damage to the first enemy hit.
W - Repudiation
Ambessa gains a shield, briefly braces herself and then slams the ground to damage nearby enemies.
If Ambessa blocks any non-minion damage while bracing herself, the ability will deal increased damage to all enemies hit.
E - Lacerate
Ambessa whips her drakehounds around herself, damaging and slowing nearby enemies.
Initiating [P] Drakehound's Step from this ability will cause it to strike a second time at the end of its dash.
R - Public Execution
Ambessa blinks to the farthest enemy champion in a line of her choosing and suppresses them upon arrival.
She then slams the enemy into the ground, dealing damage and briefly stunning them.
Ambessa gameplay
With her release, Riot intends for Ambessa to be a top laner in League of Legends. From what we've seen so far, though, she could very well be played in the jungle or mid lane as well.
An incredibly mobile champion, Ambessa should seek to leverage her ability to get in and out of fights with ease to take constant trades in lane. As an AD juggernaut, she will be a perfect pick for any team lacking front line and AD damage in their composition.
When will Ambessa be released in League of Legends?
Riot Games is expected to release Ambessa to the game with patch 14.22. The exciting patch, promising Arcane-related additions to League of Legends beyond Ambessa's playable character, will arrive on Wednesday, November 6th.
