NRG has made a major move by signing the North American veteran Nick "nitr0" Cannella, signaling their strong commitment to the region. "nitr0" will now lead the team, taking over from current in-game leader Colby "Walco" Walsh, who will move to the bench.

By joining NRG, nitr0 will reunite with former teammates Damian "daps" Steele and Josh "oSee" Ohm, with whom he shared the stage during his extensive tenure with Team Liquid.

NRG's return to the game began with a setback, their initial success in requalifying for ESL Challenger League was overshadowed by a series of disappointments in online qualifiers. This included their failure to qualify for the PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR.
