Omar: ‘Bedlam nerf is insane problem for Dark Willow’
PSG.Quest is 3-5 in Riyadh Masters 2024 but they are not out of the fight just yet. The team made an impressive comeback against Beastcoast and drew the series after a rough opening game.
When the match was over, Quest's roaming support Omar "OmaR" Moughrabi, shared his thoughts on the series, which roaming supports to pick this patch, and what to expect on the last two days of the tournament.
Beastcoast and PSG.Quest traded stomps in their series
As mentioned earlier, Quest's series against Beastcoast started rough, with a 4,000 gold advantage for the South American team that allowed them to snowball to victory.
Game two was an entirely different affair, as this time it was Quest that had a massive lead at the 15-minute mark which propelled them to victory.
When asked why the two games were so one-sided, OmaR revealed that it came down to the hero picks, specifically his lack of practice on Dark Willow along with Beastcoast's fast pace in game one.
"It could be a lot of stuff, in my opinion, it might be draft and heroes related. Actually, it was my first game on Willow in the new patch, it was a bit of a ballsy pick, I wasn't sure if it would work or not. I think there is a world where it could work, but they just played really well and made insane rotations first 10 minutes. We just refreshed and second game we just talked and we understood what's their strength and how to outplay it and we did."
Dark Willow was a highlight in the previous patch, being picked or banned in nearly every professional match thanks to her AoE control, massive damage, and being relatively hard to bring down.
The latest update nerfed the duration of Bramble Maze, but it was the removal of the utility of her ultimate that led to her downfall. Dark Willow has only been picked seven times in Riyadh Masters this year.
OmaR echoed the statement of many players, that without being able to use Bedlam on allies, the hero lost a lot of her strength.
"To be honest I couldn't make up my mind fully yet but this Bedlam nerf is insane problem for the hero, it takes away so much. Last patch you hit level six and put it on your core and he can stun or go on top of any hero and insane impact already."
OmaR: "We're improving day by day"
Dark Willow isn't in the meta anymore, but others are taking her place. Quest's support listed two heroes he is interested in playing this patch.
"I'll discuss two heroes, first one was Pudge, in the new patch they nerf projectile speed. My teammates didn't encourage me to play that hero, even though we won two scrims. I really want to play that hero, I think it's strong. Other hero is Nyx, I think this Scuttle facet is really good."
PSG.Quest was off to a rocky start in the group stage, with a 0-2 loss against Entity. Since then the team has managed to draw every series but they are still behind in the group stage.
When asked on the team's condition, OmaR stressed that things are getting better each day for the squad as they iron out their kinks.
"So far I can say we've improved a lot since our first match in the play-ins. We still have some chaotic games, not really consistent. But I think we have a better and more clear idea of what we want in game, how to play and stuff. We're improving day by day and hopefully prepare well for tomorrow and do really well."
