Patch 9.01 overview: PC fixes and Console tweaks
Valorant players are about to receive a huge wave of updates with patch 9.01, bringing changes across all platforms and exclusive enhancements for each platform. This patch will fine-tune gameplay, introduce new features, and fix issues to ensure a more engaging experience.
Overall changes to all platforms
One of the main updates in patch 9.01 is the reworked animation for the Outlaw, making it more apparent when the weapon is ready to fire. This will enhance gameplay and ensure players can better time their shots.
Other bug fixes have been implemented to improve the gaming experience. Notably, a bug that allowed Neon to equip faster than intended has been fixed.
Also, AFK players will no longer be able to start a surrender vote, which addresses an exploit in matches. Spectators will appreciate the smoother experience with fixes to Cypher’s Spycam, Sage and Clove resurrections, and tactical callouts, which now properly respect settings preferences.
1. Map Improvements
Abyss has received multiple updates to improve gameplay and visual clarity. Cypher’s Spycam spots have been cleaned up to prevent visual issues and unintended placements. Wingman’s Spike plant pathing on A site has been refined, and various ability and player collision spots have been adjusted for better flow.
Visual bugs, such as the upside-down minimap and issues when falling off the map, have also been addressed. These changes will provide a more enjoyable experience for all players.
2. Known issues not fixed yet
Despite the numerous fixes, some issues persist. Players might encounter "<MISSING STRING ENTRY TABLE>" in their chat log when party changes occur. This is a known issue that is being addressed by the developers.
PC-Exclusive Updates on Patch 9.01
1. Esports features
PC players can look forward to the introduction of the Pick'ems Beta version, ready to launch for VALORANT Champions Seoul on July 26th. This new feature allows players to predict advancing teams, earn points, and receive rewards based on their predictions.
2. Gameplay and Premier fixes
Bug fixes on PC include fixing an issue with the Ping Wheel getting stuck on the interface and addressing matchmaking problems in the IBIT zone. Teams in this zone can now find matches successfully from Week 3 onwards, with an automatic playoff qualification for those playing in Week 6 and before.
Patch 9.01 Console-Specific enhancements
1. General updates
Console players are in for a treat with several general updates and agent tweaks. Players can now freely rebind non-ultimate ability button mappings and invert map cursor controls, offering greater customization and control.
2. Agent adjustments
- Neon - Slide re-equip speed changed from fast to instant.
- Raze - Reduced the second Blast Pack’s horizontal force.
- Iso - Double Tap duration reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds, and removed the signature kill reset.
3. Map Updates
The map updates bring Lotus into the competitive, unrated, swift play, and deathmatch queues, expanding the variety of battlegrounds available. However, Deathmatch mode will be temporarily unavailable on consoles due to a technical issue that needs fixing.
4. Social Enhancements
Social features on consoles have also been enhanced, with updated notification indicators, voice indicators in the Party tab, and a new button to leave the party. These changes aim to improve the overall social interaction and party management experience for console players.
5. Bug Fixes
Several important bug fixes arrived for console players. Traditional Preset weapon switching issues have been resolved, and problems that could prevent players from leaving the Range have been fixed.
Specific agent fixes include Sova’s Recon Bolt and Fade’s Haunt now properly applying AimAssist to revealed targets. Other agents, such as Chamber, Harbor, Viper, and Yoru, also see corrections to AimAssist application issues.
Known Issues on Console still ongoing
One notable issue remains with the Surrender menus. Players may find their controls locked for an entire round when navigating these menus, leading to the temporary disablement of the Surrender and Remake options. However, the Draw function will remain operational.
Patch 9.01 is undoubtedly a significant update that brings a plethora of improvements and new features to Valorant, enhancing the gameplay experience across all platforms. Whether you're on PC or console, these updates aim to provide a more balanced, fair, and enjoyable game. Stay sharp, and see you in the game!
