The best offlaners to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.34b
Dota 2 patch 7.34b has been out for a while and we've ranked the biggest winners and losers of the update. While it's good to know which heroes are on the rise and which aren't doing so well, it's equally important to know the best picks for each role, in this case, the best offlaners to grind MMR with.
In this article, we will be looking at the best offlaners in patch 7.34b, as well as talk about why these heroes are worth playing and some basic tips to avoid growing pains.
The three best offlaners to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.34b
Legion Commander
If you’re looking for something with an active and aggressive playstyle that can scale into the late-game, then Legion Commander is your gal, or guy if you follow Dota 1 lore.
Legion Commander (or LC) is also difficult to zone out in the laning stage. Press the Attack is a strong dispel with a heal over time on top of that, making it the perfect option to escape sticky situations or save allies. An early point in Moment of Courage is usually all the sustain the hero needs, thanks to the hefty 55% lifesteal at level one.
Legion Commander can play aggressively from the start of the laning stage thanks to Overwhelming Odds. The spell was recently buffed to provide extra attack speed and can deal 375 damage at max level against two heroes, making it an incredibly strong nuke early on. Overwhelming Odds dishes out 680 damage when facing three enemies and with the level 15 talent, which is frankly absurd.

While the hero comes with a fine kit of basic spells, it’s her ultimate that makes her stand out as one of the most aggressive heroes in Dota 2. Duel has a short cooldown of one minute and winning the Duel grants the victor (usually LC) permanent extra damage. The damage racks up quickly and it’s not unusual to see LC end the game with 200+ extra damage. Duel ignores magic immunity and allows Legion Commander to solo kill enemy carry heroes late game, especially with Blade Mail.
Speaking of playing solo, LC is the perfect hero for players who want to be lone wolves. A blink Dagger and Blade Mail, combined with increasing Duel damage, allows the hero to hunt the enemy team by herself. Just be sure to place a few Observer Wards around the map while hunting. They are free and LC will typically play on the enemy’s side of the map, giving her the perfect opportunity to place some deep wards.
With a strong, aggressive, and independent playstyle, along with a flexible item build and infinite scaling, Legion Commander is an excellent offlaner for grinding MMR.
Slardar
If you're looking for a more team-fight-based offlaner who can stand in the front lines, then Slardar might be the better option for you.
Similar to LC, Slardar also does well in the laning stage. He has two abilities that can stun his enemies, as well as Guardian Sprint which allows him to escape dangerous situations. However, Slardar lacks the ability to remove debuffs and generally requires a little more babysitting in the laning stage, as well as a couple of Bracers for regeneration.
Slardar's greatest strength is his versatility, as the hero can adjust to any situation. Need an initiator? get a Blink Dagger. Wanna tank for your team? Black King Bar and Aghanim's Scepter are your answer. Lacking damage? Echo Sabre and Harpoon are enough. How about some utility? then get yourself an Assault Cuirass.
Depending on the game time and state, Slardar can fulfill any role the team needs. Players will need to be adaptable to utilize the hero to his fullest potential but if they do, they will be well rewarded with one of the best offlaners to grind MMR.
Dark Seer
If the previous two options seem a bit too aggressive, then Dark Seer strikes an excellent middle ground. Dark Seer has an active and fun play style while bringing a ton of utility to his team with his skills as well as durability from his item build.
Similar to the first two suggestions in this article, Dark Seer is a difficult hero to zone out of the lane. He is relatively durable and should he get caught in a bad situation, one Surge is more than enough to get out of trouble. If the lane is impossible to play, then spamming Ion Shells is a legitimate way to farm without putting yourself at risk.
Speaking of Ion Shell, the spell works wonderfully with a melee partner, dealing a combined 180 damage from two shells. Players can opt to upgrade Ion Shell even further with talents or focus on the Seer’s other spells, giving the hero plenty of flexibility in his skill build.
As mentioned earlier, auras are currently too powerful in Dota 2 and well worth picking up on most offlane heroes, and Dark Seer is no exception. Guardian Greaves, Pipe of Insight, and Crimson Guard are good items to aim for on the hero. There are other options as well, such as Aghanim Scepter to unlock Normal Punch, as well as a Blink Dagger to land those game-changing Vaccums.

A strong laning stage combined with a flexible skill and item build make Dark Seer one of the best offlaners in Dota 2 patch 7.33c. If you’re looking into transitioning into position three or maybe you just got the role while farming some role tokens, you can’t go wrong with Dark Seer.
