The first day of the Skyesports Championship has been abruptly canceled following technical difficulties that plagued the opening match between The MongolZ and True Rippers.

The match which was scheduled to be a best-of-one, ended nearly three hours after the tournament began due to constant pauses. Issues with internet and power affected the first two matches of the day, including the matchup between Eternal Fire and Revenant, which was cut short after only seven rounds were played following a short start time.

The tournament organizer has announced that all matches will be rescheduled for Wednesday.

“We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen technical issues and despite our best efforts to address them, we have decided to postpone the matches to Day 2 (July 24).”

“Our team is diligently working to resolve these issues and will bring you the thrilling Counter-Strike 2 esports action tomorrow.”

– Skyesports statement.

With the official schedule expected to be released soon, Aurora's coach, Stepan "brain" Sivoronov, shared a video suggesting that the organizer is considering whether to continue the tournament from the hotel or if teams will need to play from a LAN center.

PC issues in the hotel

Eternal Fire's star player, İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş, took to X to express his frustration after a disastrous first day of the tournament, marked by widespread PC issues affecting multiple teams.

“I have never seen such a bad tournament in my life, the PCs are extremely bad, there were nails on the tables, now the electricity goes out first, then the internet goes out, it’s a disgrace.”

Before this, some CIS players had already turned to Telegram to share their "unpleasant" experiences with the tournament organizer.

Aleksandr "KENSI" Gurkin and Aleksandr "TRAVIS" Timkiv noted that players were dealing with varying PC setups, resulting in inconsistent performance, with frame rates around 200 FPS.

BetBoom is out of the tournament

Following the sea of problems that plagued the event so far, BetBoom announced their withdrawal from the event as Skyesports failed to meet their promised conditions. According to BetBoom's statement, there's no level playing field for all participating teams, hence no fair competition.

With a $300,000 prize pool and some of the top 30 teams in attendance, there's hope that these issues will be resolved.
