Quest Esports has finally revealed their new offlaner as teams finalise their roster for the upcoming International 2023 Qualifiers. Recently, the team received some backlash as they parted ways with their offlaner, who was on loan from Nigma Galaxy.

However, using another stand-in’ for their run at The Riyadh Masters 2023, where the team proved they are still a potential threat. There were multiple rumours about a possibility of a former Entity player joining Quest Esports. A week before the qualifiers, Quest confirmed those rumours, adding Tobias "Tobi" Buchner as the team’s newest offlaner to achieve their fullest potential.

Quest’s Sudden Rise

Quest Esports is a newly formed team for this season. Formerly played under the banner of Ooredoo Thunders, the players started making waves in Division II. Soon enough, the roster got acquired by Quest Esports before getting promoted to Division I.

In Divison I, Quest quickly found its footing taking on teams like Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators. They also qualified for The Riyadh Masters 2023 through the Riyadh Masters MENA qualifiers. Despite playing with a stand-in’, the team dominated the group stages and secured a 7th-8th place finish at the tournament.

However, despite their massive success, Quest gained a controversial reputation due to them frequently swapping players. The team recently parted ways with their coach before their run at The Riyadh Masters too.

Could Tobi be the key?

Tobi recently parted ways with Entity, a team he’s been a part of since it got signed by the organisation. Tobi helped Entity achieve marvellous results in their debut season. He helped the team qualify for The International 2022 through the qualifiers.

Entity secured a 9th-12th place at their first International. It is a good placement for the team in its first year. In the 2022-2023 DPC Season, Tobi helped the team qualify for The Lima Major, where they secured a 5th-6th place finish. However, after nearly getting eliminated at The Spring Tour, the team and Tobi parted ways.

Tobi has been missing from the pro scene since then. Joining Quest Esports would benefit both parties as the team would need an experienced offlaner, and Tobi, in return, will need a team which allows him to show his true potential for the upcoming qualifiers.

Quest Esports failed to secure a direct invite for TI through the DPC season. Thus, they will have to go through titans in the Western European region to earn their ticket. Tobi will also be meeting his old team at the qualifiers. The International 2023 Qualifiers will start on 27th August.
