Operation Deadly Omen is set to bring exciting new changes to Rainbow Six Siege in Year 9 Season 1. From revamped shield mechanics to a menacing new operator, there's plenty to look forward to. Let's dive into the details of what this operation has in store for players.

The New Operator: Deimos

In Operation Deadly Omen, Deimos emerges as the central antagonist for Team Rainbow, yet players will find themselves wielding his formidable skills. His signature ability, DeathMark, deploys a nano-helicopter that grants Deimos exclusive access to the real-time location of his targeted foe. This intel is two-way, as the targeted Defender will also be alerted of Deimos’ location. However, this intel remains his alone, denying fellow attackers its advantage.

Deimos brings a game-changing arsenal to the fray, featuring the Vendetta .44 revolver— his signature weapon and a new addition to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Activating his ability restricts adversaries from utilizing their primary armaments, be it the AK-74M Assault Rifle or the S.A.S. shotgun.

With a trio of DeathMarks at his disposal, Deimos assumes the role of an entry fragger and roamer cleaner. Anticipation runs high as the community eagerly awaits the inventive strategies players will employ to dismantle opposing lineups with this formidable operative!

Revamped Shield Mechanics

Operation Deadly Omen will bring about a significant rework to shields in the game, affecting operators such as Fuze, Blitz, and Montagne.

Primarily, shields will gain the ability to open barricades akin to Osa's use of bulletproof glass. Additionally, they will incorporate the capability to push down enemies, reminiscent of Oryx's unique ability. Furthermore, shield operators will now have the option to reload while fully deploying their shield.

These adjustments are expected to enhance Montagne's effectiveness as an intelligence-gathering operator. It's imperative to closely monitor these changes as they have the potential to reshape the meta in the near future!

Attachments and ADS Upgrades

Operation Deadly Omen brings significant upgrades to attachments and ADS mechanics. With reshuffled optics categories and new bonuses for grips, players will have more options to customize their loadouts to suit their playstyle.

Some operators will regain access to their ACOG scopes, such as Ash's R4C and Thorn's UZK50GI.

While the 1.5x and 2.0x scopes will remain in the game, the ACOG is poised to reclaim its status as the premier scope in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

Furthermore, attachments are set to undergo a rework in Operation Deadly Omen, with improvements to the ADS system and a reduction in the variety of scope types.

Introducing a new attachment to Siege, Ubisoft presents the Horizontal Grip, designed to enhance movement speed.

Moreover, modifications to the laser attachment will provide a 15% boost to ADS speed, while the Angle Grip offers a 20% increase in reload speed. These changes aim to further refine the gameplay experience in Rainbow Six Siege.

Balancing

Azami has posed challenges in Siege since her introduction to the game. However, Ubisoft has now implemented a buff for the Japanese operator.

In Operation Deadly Omen, Azami's Kiba Barriers will no longer maintain their bulletproof status. Players will have the ability to break the barrier by shooting at it. Different guns will take different amounts of time to break the barrier. But working together as a team should have it down in no time.

This adjustment is aimed at balancing Azami, who has been perceived as one of the more vexing operators in the game. Simultaneously, the alterations to the Kiba Barriers are intended to reduce the defensive strength observed during the Six Invitational 2024.

Ubisoft has also been refining LMGs with a change set to debut in Operation Deadly Omen. These weapons will undergo a recoil modification, striking a balance between their pre-Y7S2 and post-Y7S2 behavior. Moreover, operators wielding LMGs will experience a reduction in movement speed. Player Protection

During the Six Invitational 2024, Ubisoft revealed an upcoming update to enhance the game's Anti-Cheat system.

Introducing "Ban on Data," Ubisoft aims to bolster the system's efficacy in identifying players with disproportionately high kill-death ratios, thereby addressing the persistent issue of cheating more effectively.

Additionally, with the rollout of Operation Deadly Omen, players will be required to unlock a minimum of 10 operators before gaining access to Ranked mode.

Furthermore, players who have been inactive for an extended period will need to secure victories in 5 Quick Match or Standard games before regaining eligibility to participate in Ranked matches.

Player Comfort

Operation Deadly Omen prioritizes player comfort with the introduction of pre-visualization of projectiles and enhancements to rappel mechanics.

A subtle adjustment to the rappelling mechanic is also being introduced, enhancing movement speed and smoothness.

These quality-of-life improvements aim to make gameplay smoother and more intuitive, allowing players to focus on strategy and execution.

New Inventory Menu: Locker

Say goodbye to cluttered menus and hello to the new Locker system. This comprehensive inventory menu allows players to easily browse and manage their collection of cosmetics. With categories for headgear, uniforms, weapon skins, and more, organizing your loadout has never been easier.

Training and Onboarding

Newcomers to Rainbow Six Siege will benefit from expanded training options and improved AI behaviors. With additional maps and operators available in the versus AI playlist, players can hone their skills in a supportive environment before diving into competitive play.

Operation Deadly Omen promises to be an exciting chapter in the ongoing saga of Rainbow Six Siege. With a focus on player protection, quality-of-life improvements, and the introduction of a formidable new operator, Year 9 Season 1 is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling yet.
