Relegated: Has Nigma Galaxy Fallen from Grace?
Nigma Galaxy, a team founded by The International 2017 champions, is again relegated to Western Europe Division II DPC. Although the team consisted of an all-star roster, the team hadn’t qualified for The International for two years.
Not a Terrific Record
Nigma Galaxy has been struggling in the past years. The team became no stranger to disappointing results as they failed to keep up with the top teams. In the 2021-2022 DPC season, the team first got relegated to Division II at the end of the Spring Tour. However, with the help of Syed "SumaiL" Hassan, the team got promoted back to Division I for the 2022-2023 DPC Season.
In the 2022-2023 DPC Season, the team undergo some changes. Nigma Galaxy’s hard carry, Amer “Miracle” Al-Barkawi, took a break from competitive play, so the team bought in Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf as their new carry. The team also changed coaches two times.
At the 2022-2023 DPC Winter Tour, Nigma Galaxy showed potential with their new draft. Even though they didn’t secure a ticket to the Major, Nigma Galaxy managed to maintain their Division I slot. At the Spring Tour, despite making top teams in the regions like Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators bleed, they couldn’t get wins when it mattered the most. Only winning two series, Nigma Galaxy had to play the tiebreaker series against Entity to maintain their Division I slot. Unfortunately, Entity came out on top. Moreover, the team had no DPC points, meaning Nigma Galaxy will have to go through The International qualifiers to earn their seat at The International 2023.
Not a Friendly competition
Nigma Galaxy has to quickly find its footing if they want to have any chance to qualify for The International 2023. Home to teams like Team Secret and Old G, Division II is not a friendly place for them. Several players have admitted that Western Europe Division II is harder than Division I compared to most regions
