Riot Games announces all 16 teams playing in new League of Legends Americas League
Earlier this year, Riot Games and LoL esports announced the abolition of NA LCS, CBLOL and LLA and instead announced a new single regional Americas League, similar to VCT Americas.
Today, Riot Games announced ‘League of Legends Championship of The Americas’, abbreviated ‘LTA.’ The new league will feature two conferences, LTA North and LTA South featuring former LCS, CBLOL and LLA organizations.
Let’s look at these two conferences separately and the teams that will be the part of their inaugural season.
LTA North Teams
The North Conference of League of Legends Championship of The Americas will feature 6 LCS partner organizations, an LLA partner organization and one North American guest slot for a total of eight teams.
These eight organizations are:
- Cloud9 (LCS)
- Team Liquid Honda (LCS)
- FlyQuest (LCS)
- Shopify Rebellion (LCS)
- Dignitas (LCS)
- Lyon Gaming (LLA)
- 100 Thieves (Provisional Guest Slot)
- Disguised (Guest Slot)
The 100 Thieves LoL division has decided to sell their franchise slot to Riot Games. The organization will be part of the 2025 LTA North as a provisional guest. But the future i.e. for 2026 onwards, is uncertain.
For the Guest Slot, Disguised will defend their slot against top NACL and LRN teams in the promotion tournament.
LTA South Teams
Similarly, the South Conference of League of Legends Championship of The Americas features 6 CBLOL partner organizations, an LLA partner organization and a guest partner from Latin America.
These eight organizations are:
- Fluxo (CBLOL)
- FURIA (CBLOL)
- Leviatan (LLA)
- LOUD (CBLOL)
- paiN Gaming (CBLOL)
- Red Canids (CBLOL)
- Vivo Keyd Stars (CBLOL)
- Isurus (Guest Slot)
Similar to Disguised, Isurus will have to defend their slot in the promotion tournament.
Apart from the new teams and a new name, the new Americas League will feature a format overhaul. Stay tuned on Strafe for everything new coming with the inaugural season of League of Legends Championship of The Americas.
