Riot Games unveils Official VCT 2024 Team Capsules
In 2022, Riot Games shared their vision for the VCT Partnership Project. One of the assured benefits was a direct revenue share via in-game items.
On the Plat Chat podcast, Leo Faria, Global Head of Valorant Esports also hinted at the release of VCT team capsules as a source of direct revenue share with the teams.
Today, Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) unveils the official team capsules for 2024. With the team capsules, the community can directly support their favorite teams, and flaunt their favorite teams in style.
The ‘Esports Store’ under the In-game ‘Esports Hub’ goes live today with patch 8.03 along with Chamber Buffs.
Talking about the VCT Team Capsule, Leo Faria, Global Head of Valorant Esports said;
"We're excited to launch the VCT Team Capsules and give fans a way to directly support their favorite teams and express their fandom in-game. The Capsules represent our commitment to building a thriving economic ecosystem around VALORANT Esports. Together with our partner teams, we are taking the next step to build a sustainable model for esports and the greatest competitive experience in gaming.”
VCT Team Capsules 2024
There are 44 unique team-specific capsules for every VCT partnered and promoted team. Each team capsule features the following.
- Classic and AR skins with unique firing audio and muzzle flash.
- Custom player card
- Buddy and Spray set
The capsules will be available throughout the VCT 2024 season. The capsule of international event winners will be promoted in the store. The VCT Americas, EMEA and Pacific capsules will be available starting 21st February with VCT CN skins launching in May with Masters Shanghai.
How to get the VCT Team Capsule 2024?
The team capsules are available under the Esports Hub. You can purchase the team capsule as follows;
- Go to the Esports Hub
- Go to the team tab
- Navigate to your team of choice
- Buy and parade your favorite teams.
How does the team capsule support your favorite team?
Riot will share 50% of the revenue collected with the teams. Riot has previously had similar revenue shares planned for the Champions bundle. For 2023, they collected around a whopping $33M from the esports capsules and it was shared with the teams playing the Valorant Champions 2023.
The initiative provides the teams with monetization opportunities, especially with the esports economy struggling, the revenue share will help the team get working capital for team’s operations.
It also allows the community to express their love for their team directly and deliver a fraction of their love and support to the teams directly.
Would you support your favorite VCT team via the capsules? Comment and let us know which bundle you want to buy.
