"Sniper" expected to play for 100T in 2024
According to a tweet made by esports media BLIX.GG, Rayan "Sniper" Shoura will be starting as Top Laner for 100 Thieves in the LCS.
Who is Sniper?
The 16-year-old was initially signed with 100 Thieves back in November of 2021. In the Spring split of NACL, Sniper played in the top lane for the 100 Challengers' roster. With a dominant performance and presence in the league, 100T moved him out of the roster and placed him as a substitute for the main roster.
Sniper first rose to fame when hype grew around his achievement of hitting Challenger on the NA server. The shocking part of this achievement was that he was 12 years old at the time. To add to this great achievement, he then hit Rank 1 when he was 14. Since then organizations had been waiting for him to reach the age where he could be signed as either a pro player or streamer. Cloud9 even tried to sign with him in 2020 but the contract was immediately shut down as he did not meet the age requirements.
Competitive Impact
It is to no surprise that the young and dominant top laner will be joining the LCS. The future of Sniper's performance and growth with the esports organization looks promising. On the other hand, it is still in the air what will happen to Chan-Ho "Ssumday" Kim. His contract with 100T expiring this coming November. Due to this, it is highly likely that he will be pushed out of their main roster. However, it remains in the air whether Ssumday will continue his LoL journey as a free agent or will end his career with retirement.
