T1 lost to Dplus KIA in an excruciating series at the LCK Regional Finals with Worlds qualification on the line.

With the win, DK will attend Worlds 2024 as the LCK's third seed. As for T1, the most decorated team in Worlds history now stands on the brink of missing the tournament altogether.

DK end T1's domination

After beating DK in six consecutive series, T1 could not have picked a worse time to lose to DK for the first time all year.

Coming into the series, DK was locked in like never before. A team that knows what it's like to lift the Worlds trophy, DK did not want to miss out on the chance to do so again.

Despite losing the first game of the series, DK quickly answered back by taking game 2 off the back of a great team composition with Ivern in the jungle, Tristana mid and Ziggs bot.

T1 retaliated by taking the longest game of the series and putting themselves ahead 2-1. And then, tragedy struck.

With T1 having won both games in which Faker was on Yone, the team inexplicably chose to have the greatest League of Legends player of all time placed on Corki duty for the remainder of the series.

Faker's playmaking ability silenced by his own team, T1 lost the final two games while struggling to be proactive.

In the end, DK walked away the victors of a series that saw a total of 5 games and 192 minutes of gameplay.

DK have now secured their spot at Worlds and will not be playing again until the tournament's Swiss Stage begins, earning some much needed rest. T1, instead, may walk into what could be their final match of the season feeling the effects of fatigue.

T1's final shot

Faker and T1's last chance at qualifying for Worlds 2024 will come this Saturday, September 14th. There, T1 will have to square up against the winners of KT Rolster vs BNK FearX to settle who the final team representing the LCK at Worlds is going to be.

Before that, however, all eyes will be on KT and FearX on Friday, September 13th, as we find out which team is set to be T1's final hurdle.
