T1 has announced the signing of Kim “Meteor” Tae-o on their official X account. This comes on the heels of Gen.G's shocking decision to part ways with the trio of Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom, Kim "Lakia" Jong-min, and Meteor, despite their incredible performance throughout 2024.

Meteor’s Meteoric Rise in 2024

For Meteor, 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary. As the only player retained from Gen.G’s 2023 roster shuffle, he emerged as a central figure in one of the most powerful forces in the VCT. His outstanding ability as a Sentinel led to him earning the VCT Pacific’s Sentinel of the Year award. Thus solidifying his status as one of the top players in the region.

Gen.G's achievement in winning an international trophy put Meteor and his teammates in the spotlight. A milestone that eluded both Pacific giants DRX and Paper Rex. Yet, despite their success, Gen.G unexpectedly released the trio. And Meteor’s journey with Gen.G came to an end after a 2-year stint.

T1’s Roster Rebuild Takes Shape

T1’s acquisition of Meteor marks a crucial step in their efforts to rebuild after a disappointing 2024 season. Having parted ways with Rossy and Sayaplayer, and bringing in new coaches indigo and CheongGak, T1 is clearly committed to shaking things up. Meteor’s addition as a dedicated Sentinel will add much-needed structure and flexibility to the roster. Thus freeing up other players to focus on their strengths.

However, with Meteor’s arrival, T1 now has six active players, one more than the game's allowed limit. According to insider Tanmay, Lee "Carpe" Jae-hyeok is the most likely candidate to be moved to the bench to make room for Meteor. Though the organization has not yet officially confirmed this.

Fans eager to see Meteor in action with T1 won’t have to wait long. T1 will compete in the Red Bull Home Ground #5 - APAC Play-In, where Meteor will be fielded in place of Kevin "xccurate" Susanto. This tournament will serve as a test run for the newly revamped roster and give T1 a chance to see how Meteor integrates with his new teammates.

Meteor's signing is a pivotal moment for T1 as they look to regain their footing in the VCT. His presence could be the missing piece in their roster. And fans are hopeful that this change will lead to a successful 2025 season.
