The Esports Awards decorate teams, players, personalities and events all across the world of esports. Now, the glitz and glamour of competitive gaming took center stage on November 21st, all things esports gathered in Los Angeles for the Esports Awards 2024.

Meant to honor all of the achievements that have shaped the scene over the past year, the event saw several worthy winners lift their awards in a night they'll remember for years to come. And yet, not all that glitters is gold. The Esports Awards 2024 made that clear by leaving several question marks hanging in the air following some questionable award choices.

Team Falcons are, somehow, your 2024 Organization of the Year

Despite the ludicrous amounts of money flowing down with every Falcons player's tear, the organization amounted to very little success in 2024. To better illustrate the Falcons' year, let's take a look at the facts.

After coming into Dota 2 at the end of 2023 by picking up several stray pieces across the globe, Team Falcons had a good year in 2024. At least until The International 2024 took place, that is. At the biggest and most important tournament of the year, the Falcons were ultimately unable to prove their worth, exiting the tournament with a disappointing fourth place finish.

Having thrown money in all directions in the world of Counter-Strike in 2024, Team Falcons' most recent achievement was failing to qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major despite playing with the greatest Counter-Strike player of all time, Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev.

A respectable team in Rocket League, Team Falcons fell short of achieving glory after being eliminated in the semifinals of the RLCS 2024 World Championship. In VALORANT, the Falcons disbanded their team in August of this year after their venture amounted to a whole lotta nothing. In League of Legends, the world's biggest esport, Team Falcons does not even have a team. I could go on, but you get the point.

All that being said, Team Falcons is your Organization of the Year at the Esports Awards 2024.

A Bright Spot Amidst: Faker and Worlds Win (Again)

After a fantastic couple of years for the game, League of Legends somehow continues to raise the bar for what esports should look and feel like.

For his incredible displays in 2023 and 2024, during which he won two World Championships, as well as the inaugural Esports World Cup, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok was named PC Player of the Year at the Esports Awards 2024. A five-time World Champion across his eleven year long career, it's safe to say no player was more deserving of this award.

Faker and T1 are basically synonymous at this point, at least as far as League of Legends is concerned. And it was precisely their League of Legends team that propelled T1 to new heights after lifting back-to-back Worlds titles. The incredible achievement also marked the first time in the esport's history that the feat has been managed by the exact same five-man squad. After becoming World Champions for a staggering fifth time, T1 earned the Team of the Year award at the Esports Awards 2024.

Meanwhile, the 2023 League of Legends World Championship was crowned Event of the Year at the Esports Awards 2024, putting the final touches on what has been an amazing couple of years for the the game and everything related to its esport.
