Team Liquid to sign Team Heretics Super-sub paTiTek
According to the report from Sheep Esports' Anonimotum, Team Liquid has reached a verbal agreement with Patryk "paTiTek" Fabrowski to join their VALORANT roster for 2025.
The 25-year-old Polish flex player garnered recognition in 2024, standing in for Team Heretics and helping them secure a 2nd-place finish at VCT 2025. Securing paTiTek’s services brings much-needed stability and flexibility to Team Liquid's roster.
The Resurgence of paTiTek
PaTiTek was part of the 2020 G2 Esports roster that dominated the early days of VALORANT in Europe. Following a string of poor results, he left the roster to join Team Heretics in 2021, but the lack of success persisted, leading to his benching in September of the same year. After spending four months on the bench, he hopped around various tier 2 rosters until signing as a substitute for Team Heretics for VCT 2024.
As a sub, paTiTek helped them secure a 7th-8th place finish at VCT 2024: Masters Madrid. He was allowed to explore full-time opportunities following his strong performance at VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff and VCT 2024: Masters Madrid.
He returned to stand in for Team Heretics at VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai. During their run to the finals, paTiTek filled multiple roles and was an integral part of the team's success.
His performance at Shanghai increased paTiTek’s stock value, particularly highlighting his ability to flex into multiple roles, a skill that was showcased during his stints at both Madrid and Shanghai.
The Team Liquid Problem
Despite being a top-tier team, consistently contending for domestic and international titles, Team Liquid hasn't come any closer to achieving major victories. They won one EMEA title in 2024, but the triumph was followed by a disappointing international run.
Rosters changed, staff changed, yet Team Liquid hasn't significantly improved. The team has remained somewhat mediocre through various iterations. A major issue has been the inherent inflexibility of Team Liquid's players.
Team Liquid has often built rosters with players who struggle to fulfill their assigned roles, and this problem has been exacerbated by the regular shifts in the VALORANT meta, which the team has failed to adapt to quickly enough.
Although this issue was less severe in 2024, the team still faced a number of other challenges that kept them from becoming true contenders. Adding a player as flexible as paTiTek is a positive sign for Team Liquid. Having someone who can fill in the gaps where needed strengthens the roster.
The rest of the roster has yet to be announced, but Team Liquid is also rumored to be signing Kamyk, the former 2023 Fnatic sub and another strong player. It will be interesting to see how the roster shapes up.
